The debate over Bitcoin expansion continues, and everyone has proposed their own solutions and opinions. However, the hesitant Bitcoin community still cannot make up its mind whether to increase the block size, and if it is determined to increase the block size, how much is appropriate? A group of community members have started another plan to expand the capacity of the Bitcoin blockchain by hard forking it. These members have put this plan on Reddit for discussion, creating a subreddit called BTCFork. The group was created a few months ago and was initially hailed as a new movement. Many people expect this organization to bring some fundamental changes to the Bitcoin blockchain in the near future. Although BTCFork has not yet achieved what people expected, the community has discussed the future path of development on GitHub and created a proposal. They believe that the current community process reduces the freedom of choice of the Bitcoin community, which makes it impossible to propose and implement proposals without the consent of Bitcoin Core developers. The decision-making power has been transferred from the community to a coalition of miners and core developers. The BTCFork community stated that they intend to democratize the entire process again by implementing a hard fork, and that the hard fork is in line with the original vision of Bitcoin. Their Bitcoin evolution process is divided into 3 parts - The consensus abstraction layer provides a way to evaluate and track changes made to the blockchain by the developer community. It brings accountability between participants while facilitating the consensus mechanism to implement these changes. Accelerated concept development, more like a rapid prototyping feature of the blockchain, allows for continuous development of the blockchain based on the requirements of each proposal. These proposals come from all prototypes and can be directly adopted after review and consensus. The implementation readiness level will serve as an indicator of proposal maturity. This metric allows the community to track the progress of each proposal. By using this metric as a reference, developers can improve various aspects of the code to meet the required standards. The full BTCFork proposal is here BTCFork now needs some necessary momentum to actually start implementing their Bitcoin scaling proposal. Well, if things go well, it can be a great way to resolve the Bitcoin scaling debate. |
