On May 22, 2019, the Zhiyuan Police Station received a report from the victim, Li, saying that he was defrauded of more than 50,000 yuan by an online friend. The police from the Zhiyuan Police Station quickly filed a case for investigation.
It is learned that Li is a female college student who just graduated. In early May this year, she met a "friend" Wang through a QQ group. Li called Wang 150 yuan to buy some learning materials, but the money was deleted as soon as it was transferred and she could not contact him anymore. After being cheated, Li was very angry and vowed to get the money back. So she posted a help post in a university forum, claiming that she would reward anyone who could help her get back the 150 yuan she was cheated of.
On May 9, 2019, a netizen named "Kun" who claimed to be able to help Ms. Li get her money back replied to Li in a forum. Li was very excited and added this "friend" through QQ. "Kun" pretended to be very "capable" to Li online. He claimed that he had helped Ms. Li get back the 150 yuan that was cheated. In fact, this person did not really ask for the 150 yuan, nor did he return the 150 yuan to Li. But even so, Li was very grateful and trusted this "Kun".
After the two got to know each other, "Kun" told Li that he had a lot of experience in investing in Bitcoin online and could help Li get started and earn lucrative profits. In the next ten days, Li paid more than 50,000 yuan to the account provided by "Kun" 48 times according to "Kun's" request.
Based on the clues provided by the victim, the police finally found the suspect's whereabouts after more than ten days of investigation and found that he was active in Nanyang City, Henan Province. The Zhiyuan Police Station quickly organized police forces to go to Nanyang, Henan to arrest him. In mid-June 2019, the arresting police in Nanyang City staked out Internet cafes and other places where the suspect often appeared, but did not find the suspect.

In early July 2019, the arresting police went to Nanyang City, Henan Province for the second time. By setting up a network and waiting, they finally arrested the criminal suspect Zhang who was preparing to go online in an Internet cafe in Nanyang City at around 7 am on July 8.

After investigation, the suspect Zhang, male, 27 years old, from Nanyang City, Henan Province, was found. After his father passed away, his mother worked in Guangzhou. Zhang was alone in Internet cafes in Nanyang City, with no fixed residence. He had a history of theft and drug abuse. According to Zhang's confession, he found a gambling platform online at the end of April this year, and he had just used it for a short time before he squandered all his savings of many years.

For a long time, Zhang even gambled away all his money for food. So he came up with the idea of cheating people out of money and started looking for "prey" on the Internet. At this time, Zhang saw Li's post asking for help on Tieba. Just like a wolf seeing its prey, he thought the time had come and set a trap for Li, the victim.

He asked Li to remit more than 50,000 yuan to him in 48 installments. But in fact, Zhang, who knew nothing about Bitcoin, did not invest in Bitcoin at all. Instead, he invested all the money he had defrauded from the victim on a gambling platform and lost it all. When the police arrested him, Zhang only had 100 yuan left on him.

Zhang was arrested by Lixia police <br />Currently, the suspect Zhang has been detained by Lixia police for suspected fraud, and he will be severely punished by law. Lixia police remind the general public: There is no such thing as a free lunch. On the Internet, you should learn to say "no" to people you don't know or are not familiar with, and you should also improve your awareness of prevention and beware of online scams. (Internet)
