On July 3-4, 2020, the 2020 IPFS Ecosystem and Distributed Storage Industry Summit was grandly opened in Hangzhou, hosted by POW POWER and Interstellar Vision IPFNEWS, co-hosted by Canaan Blockchain and Diancun Technology, co-organized by Mike Storage, Computing Power Interconnection, Net Storage Technology, and Yunhu Computing Power; Mars Cloud Mining, Hengtong Cloud, TOPLOONG, Binhe Cloud Intelligence, Xianhe System, Firefly, Shensuan Mining Pool, Xingmai Storage, Xi'an Lingdong Computer, Galaxy Storage Pool, gate.io, KuCoin, Math Wallet, ChainX, RUST, arweave.org, Renren Mine, BitMart, and WBF strategic collaboration, and sponsored by the IPFS1475 exclusive dinner! Industry leaders from the fields of IPFS, blockchain, etc. met here to discuss the development path of the new track of IPFS ecology and distributed storage in the new era. The organizer of this summit: Nandy, co-founder of Interstellar Vision IPFSNEWS, gave an unscripted speech titled "Five Keywords to Take You into the IPFS Ecosystem". The content of the speech is as follows: Thank you, President Zhang, and thank you to all the guests for coming to our site today. Thank you all. Actually, I have wanted to hold this meeting for a long time, but I only met you today. Thank you again for coming. Many people asked what the IPFS meeting is. In the past, it was still a small group of people who paid attention to it. I would like to try to speak without a script and talk about what I have seen in this ecosystem. I would like to use 5 keywords to share the IPFS ecosystem I have seen in this industry. In previous activities, I was usually the host. Today, I have 20 minutes to do an independent exchange. I think the industry has given us such an opportunity. Last year, many people didn’t know IPFS. But this year, especially with the outbreak, many people are asking what IPFS is. If it’s peer-to-peer, many people are confused just like me when I first learned about this concept. If you don’t have a technical background, you can make 80% of the people here understand this concept. I think today’s trip is worthwhile. The first keyword is HTTP, which is closer to us. IPFS is benchmarked against HTTP. What kind of event does this create for us? Let’s put the underlying technology aside first. Today, the people who came to the scene are very interested in new infrastructure. Today’s popularity also creates opportunities for our ecology. Imagine if a guest is very interested in Hangzhou cuisine, we will search for the top ten Hangzhou cuisines, our page will find a series of information about Hangzhou cuisines, we will choose one, choose it and then take a taxi. We think this action is very normal, we have not considered how technology can support our actions. What is the underlying Internet protocol? When we search on Baidu, we are looking for the URL with Hangzhou food content on Baidu's server. This is the HTTP world. So what is IPFS like? If we go back to the IPFS world, for ordinary people, our feelings are exactly the same. We are looking for the top ten Hangzhou food. Our actions are exactly the same on the IPFS bottom layer. We can still find the content by searching for the top ten Hangzhou food in the search box, but the bottom layer is completely different. Its bottom layer is like searching for the top ten delicacies in Hangzhou in the IPFS network. These contents are distributed in various nodes of the network, and each node quickly collects the contents and sends them to our terminals. For ordinary people like us, because we cannot feel the power of the underlying technology, we can only feel the direct feelings brought to us by the application. In fact, most people are very far away from this technology. Everyone only knows that this is very hot, but few people know that it has been online in May 2015. Few people know that it has been running stably for more than 5 years. Until now, there are still people in the industry talking about IPFS mining. Do you think HTTP can be mined? It is not a project itself, but an underlying protocol. My first keyword today is the underlying protocol. IPFS is an underlying protocol. The second keyword is content-based addressing. In HTTP content, if you search for the top ten foods in Hangzhou in Baidu, these are all stored in Baidu's server, while our IPFS is stored in the network. The second is called decentralization. HTTP is stored in the center, while IPFS is decentralized. What benefits will this bring? The first is security. No one can use this server to delete the content inside, delete the content inside the server, delete the content we created on the website. No one has the absolute right to delete this. IPFS is distributed storage. So it solves decentralization. It stores these contents in a decentralized way. It will be safer. The third point is security. Because it is based on content addressing, not terminal to center, it is end-to-end. If all Hangzhou friends search together in the HTTP network at the same time, the network will be blocked, but IPFS will be faster. This is given to us. What are the benefits of this? Maybe the content of the top ten delicacies in Hangzhou is not very sensitive to us, but what if the content stored on the network is the information of 100,000 cultural relics in the Forbidden City? If such information is easily deleted on the Internet, how can the information of human civilization be preserved? The life span of a web page is only 100 days. This is the dilemma that IPFS is trying to change. Then back to Filecoin, the second chaos in the industry is that some people still can't distinguish between Filecoin and IPFS. Filecoin is actually the incentive layer of the underlying Internet protocol of IPFS. This project created some numbers in 2017. I think many people know it, but what kind of world does the Filecoin project want to build? I also want to use three points to talk about my feelings. Mr. Shao also shared the first point just now. Must our data be monopolized by the central service provider? Must our data be stored in his server? Must we let him decide how much to charge us, which groups to serve, and how to serve us? Shouldn't I store the data, raise the demand, and then complete such a match through market behavior? Filecoin is trying to build such an open market. I decide which miners will store such data for us. I choose the price. I can choose a small node or a large node. This is an open market. The second point is that everyone knows that data has been growing rapidly, but it is not as obvious as cars. Because cars are growing, we need more parking spaces, but we cannot feel that data is growing and we need more servers, because data is a virtual thing, but it is a real means of production. Once data exists in a decentralized market, data can be truly confirmed. As the owner of the data, I really have a say in our data. When data really has a say, it has real value. This is the world that Filecoin wants to create. The third point may have reached another stage of Filecoin. When I want to search for a lot of data, this data will be constantly searched by the network and will become popular data. Miners will actively search for popular data when they see it. This useful data will flow to where it is needed, and users will be closer to the data, rather than in the server of a certain cloud service provider. In this way, we are using the incentive spirit of our blockchain to make data flow to more effective places. So these are the three points that I understand Filecoin can bring to us at present. As the organizer, I will bring 8 topics for two days. What roles will be shared with you on the stage at this summit? First of all, there are some miners who have been working in the field of IPFS very early. There are many of them today. They are from Hangzhou, Xi'an, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, and Chengdu. In addition, there are Amazon Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, and JD Cloud, which have become giants in the field of distributed storage. I think JD Cloud is the first to know because they were the first to apply such technology. We invited JD Cloud guests today to hear from the most advanced people in the industry about their application and views on this technology. But are these people the only ones in this field? No, there are many more. Where are our servers placed? In the IDC computer room, but many people have only seen Bitcoin computer rooms in pictures, but few people know about IDC computer rooms. Of course, this ecosystem is far from enough. There will be a series of excellent projects in the IPFS field in the future. They will be linked to large infrastructure and truly promote the healthy development of the industry. In this summit, you can see the most cutting-edge people in different fields bringing the most authentic sharing. So as the organizer, I also have the last word. I sincerely hope that everyone will go through these four and a half days with us. We will share, gain, and exchange all the knowledge in the IPFS field under these eight themes. Thank you again for coming. Thank you. |
