NakamotoX's "Crypto Tomato" sideline business

After cryptocurrencies became popular, the huge amount of energy they consume and the pollution they generate have become controversial issues within and outside the industry.

In response to this problem, Czech cryptocurrency exchange NakamotoX came up with an idea - using the heat generated by mining to grow tomatoes. They confirmed the news in a tweet on March 10: "We are designing something called Cointainer, which will be placed in the basement. The heat generated by the server will be blown into the greenhouse for tomato cultivation. We will release further details later."

According to cointelegraph, on March 10, Kamil Brejcha, co-founder of NakamotoX, said that they had customized a space for mining machines and could use the heat generated to grow tomatoes inside.

NakamotoX has also quietly launched a new business called Agritechture, which now has a greenhouse of about 20,000 square meters full of these "crypto tomatoes."

NakamotoX said that this project realizes the recycling of energy because not only the heat for growing tomatoes comes from the server, but also the heat consumed by the Bitcoin server comes from biowaste.

Recycling the heat generated by cryptocurrencies may be one of the solutions to the energy debate they have sparked. In Winnipeg, Canada, Bruce Hardy, who runs a software company, connects greenhouses, fish farms and mines together, using the heat generated by mining to keep the fish ponds warm, while the excrement produced by the fish is used to grow vegetables.
