Exclusive interview with Chia Continent CTO Huang Xiaobing: What will be the future of Chia?

On May 21, the Lijiang Crazy Water Festival, the first year of computing power nationwide tour, was successfully held, hosted by Wabi.com, Caiyun Computing Power, and Interstellar Vision, with Bitmain’s chief cooperation and BitDeer’s strategic support. During the meeting, Kiki, the co-founder of Wabi.com, conducted an exclusive interview with Huang Xiaobing, CTO of Chia Continent. The following is the transcript of the interview:

Briefly introduce yourself and Chia Continent

Huang Xiaobing

My name is Huang Xiaobing, and I am currently the CTO of Chia Continent, mainly responsible for technology. Huizhou Chia Continent Technology Co., Ltd. is a high-tech enterprise focusing on blockchain technology. The company is committed to the implementation of blockchain technology in various industries and fields, and uses technology to drive and lead the practical application and promotion of blockchain technology. Our current mining machine products are mainly Chia mining machines. We have also made Ethereum mining machines and IPFS before. We have been deeply involved in the mining machine field for many years and have certain technical advantages.

There are many chia mining machine manufacturers. What is your company's core competitiveness?

Huang Xiaobing

Our business philosophy is to create higher value for customers. Whether it is a P-disk machine, storage machine or P-disk storage all-in-one machine, chia has a leading advantage in technology. For example, for P-disks, our P-disks are much more efficient at the same price, so the investment payback period is much faster.

At this stage, the Chia Network version has updated the transaction function, but it is not yet enabled. It is expected to enable transfer transactions on May 4. If it is enabled, what impact will it have on Chia miners?

Huang Xiaobing

It should be said that there was no mainnet transaction transfer function before May 4th. Many miners have already mined a lot of coins. Miners may also be optimistic about Chia before entering the market, but they don’t know how the price of the coin will trend after the mainnet is launched. Now May 4th has passed. After Chia went online, we saw that the price of Chia was far higher than what miners expected. The price of the coin once exceeded 10,000, which also caused another wave of Chia’s popularity. In the future, I think that although Chia will not catch up with Ethereum, it is very likely to be close in size or price. Let’s wait and see.

Is the Frog Miner, a mining machine brand under its umbrella, now on sale?

Yes, mining machines have been produced and released.

At present, due to the general increase in the prices of computing machines, storage machines, and hard disks, the price of 1 TiB of many Chia mining machines has been pushed up to around 600-700 yuan. Considering the price factor and the competition of Chia's full network computing power, do you think it is still a good time to enter the market?

Huang Xiaobing

It depends on how you look at this issue. The prices of hard drives or other resources you purchased in February, March, and April have certainly increased a lot, but you can never go back to the past. You can only look to the future. For Chia, it is still a value trough, and the current investment return cycle is still faster than other currencies. In addition, the official Chia main mining pool will not be launched until the end of this month. From the perspective of connecting to the official mining pool, it is equivalent to everyone standing on the same starting line again, because if you want to connect to the official mining pool, the previously P disks have to be P again, so I think it is not too late to enter the market now.

What plans does Chia Continent have for the second half of the year?

Not only will we launch more Frog-branded mining machines, we will also have an operation and maintenance team dedicated to providing technical output services for setting up mining farms, such as the construction of the now popular bzz node, etc. The blockchain market has a very broad prospect, and its applications involve various fields. We will do whatever the market needs and make arrangements in line with market demand.
