Bitcoin OKCoin: Presidential candidates also love Bitcoin

U.S. presidential candidate Rand Paul made an appearance at a Bitcoin event at the Union League Club and impressed attendees with his views on the cryptocurrency. The event was co-hosted by the New York Bitcoin Center and startup incubator Blockchain Technologies. Rand Paul is the first presidential candidate ever to accept Bitcoin donations.

Paul Hansen, an attendee, said on Twitter on April 20, 2015: "Rand was brief but to the point. Personally, I'm excited to see our next president." Another Twitter user, Jacob Cohen, also tweeted about Paul: "I'm innovative and develop technology."

When asked about Bitcoin regulation and national security, Paul said, "It's important to keep innovation going in the United States." Before Paul spoke, Alexander Austin, co-founder of the Bitcoin Center, used the opportunity to express his opposition to the national BitLicense regulatory proposal. He believes that Bitcoin and the technology behind it will benefit more people if regulators let go.

He Yi, co-founder of Bitcoin OKCoin trading platform, believes that in the early days of the Internet, regulatory authorities took a similar stance to Bitcoin, leaving it to fend for itself, and many people even proposed to ban this revolutionary service, but today "Internet +" has become the development direction and future advocated by the mainstream. We are very happy to see that more and more mainstream people support Bitcoin today, especially the support of Wall Street, Silicon Valley and political elites in the United States has given us more confidence. As an Internet technology, Bitcoin has more possibilities and creativity in China, which advocates innovation, makers and entrepreneurship today. We cannot just regard Bitcoin as a virtual asset, but we must study the convenience that this technology can bring to our lives until the emergence of "killer" applications.
