Can blockchain turn the people on Earth into Trisolarans?

Speech by guests at the founding conference of the "China Blockchain Research Alliance":

Han Feng: First of all, I am here today to pay tribute to Chairman Wang Yongli. It was in 2014 that I read his article on encrypted digital currency. I was particularly shocked at the time, and it also strengthened my determination to study blockchain. The theme of my speech today has changed to "CloudMind". Why did this theme change? The origin is this. In 2014, because I was studying blockchain, I often discussed with Professor Gu Xueyong of Tsinghua University. I proposed the cognition of the non-locality of quantum physics to blockchain, and Professor Gu Xueyong was quite supportive. We signed up for a course called "Cognitive Foundations Beyond Disciplines", and later agreed to open it in Tsinghua Xinya Academy in the second semester of 2015.

The course set a high goal at the beginning, but can students from different academic backgrounds learn concepts such as non-locality in quantum physics, distributed notarization in blockchain, and distributed justice in law, and generate innovative "crowd consciousness" and "crowd intelligence" through a workflow similar to Wikipedia? When this was proposed, I was deeply skeptical. I originally thought that this was just another course for us to spread knowledge. I have no problem teaching quantum mechanics and blockchain, but I don't know what results students can produce after learning.

However, as the course progressed, we were pleasantly surprised to find that "crowd intelligence" had really emerged. The core concept was the CloudMind concept. At the end of the course in 2015, each group of students had to publish their results. Among them, Zhang Shichao, Wang Xiaoshan, and Ning Zhiyu were the most original in coming up with the CloudMind concept. The other groups and the entire class basically developed some kind of work collaboration around this concept. Finally, I gave this concept a Chinese name, "Cloud Decision-making".

How did this concept come about? This is the most innocent idea of ​​these Tsinghua students, who happened to read the novel "The Three-Body Problem". Everyone knows that the author of this novel, Liu Cixin, won the "Hugo Award", the highest award for science fiction in the world in 2015. I personally think that the originality of this novel is actually a very profound understanding of the ugliness of human nature. Human beings have too much fraud and hypocrisy. Of course, it is mainly written against the background of the Cultural Revolution. I won't say much. Everyone has come from this period of history. Even now many TV dramas, such as "The Legend of Zhen Huan", are full of intrigues. It seems that there are too many things like this in Chinese civilization. The novel "The Three-Body Problem" says that the thoughts of the "Three-Body People" are completely transparent, and there is no barrier to communication between them. Humans cannot understand what kind of politics and culture will be produced in a society with completely transparent thoughts? Don't you have tricks and disguises? The Three-Body People replied: "What are tricks and disguises?" Liu Cixin invented such a Three-Body People society, which is much more advanced than human civilization. They came to Earth and defeated the Earthlings! Obviously the author's wish is that if human beings do not overcome their weaknesses, they will not be able to truly rise to a higher civilization.

Of course, it was just science fiction, but I was very surprised that after these kids understood what blockchain was, they started to interpret it, and started several discussions and online collaborations. After the whole course, all the collective wisdom was actually generated. They tried to prove that using blockchain distributed fairness technology, a transparent, non-disguised, and non-fraudulent decision-making process can be established, so they later named it CloudMind.

The process is roughly like this: they also combine the latest technology, and Intel predicts that by 2020, computers can be directly controlled by the human brain. In other words, in the future, the computer can automatically read what you think in your mind.

In the future, you can imagine that, for example, when you enter this venue, as long as there are certain brain wave sensors around, it can read out what most people are thinking in this venue. For example, there is no need to vote in elections, because the sensors can read out the opinions and decisions in everyone's mind. In this way, combined with blockchain, because only blockchain can be fair to the entire network, completely fraud-proof and unchangeable, CloudMind was created, with a very good brain-computer interface, very good blockchain fairness and records, and then a dynamic cloud decision-making mechanism for the entire network is formed. Of course, due to time constraints today, I can't introduce it in detail. I originally wanted Zhang Zhichao, a student in their group, to explain this picture, but she has an exam these two days. This is the general process of CloudMind that they finally explained to us, which is basically self-consistent.

Frankly speaking, at the end of the course in 2015, when these kids talked about their success on the stage, although the concepts were still relatively crude and naive, some of them were so excited that they shed tears. They were so excited about such a prospect and such a new technological development! We basically decided to set up a group to conduct in-depth research on this topic. Because I happened to be talking to them about quantum non-locality and blockchain, and I happened to see a document at the end of last year, the so-called "quantum thinking".

I have heard about this a long time ago and have always been somewhat skeptical. When I saw that it was actually published in the document "New Discoveries", there are now very rigorous psychological experiments that prove that the quantum nature of human thinking exists. The traditional thinking model believes that our opinions are always in a certain state, and our expressions are just saying what we think. The latest information science experimental observations are completely different. The uncertainty, entanglement, and oscillation that originally belonged to quantum mechanics have all been discovered in psychological experiments, and can be accurately compared with experimental quantification. Because everyone knows that psychology was often considered not to be a science at first, because many things are just concepts. Now, they can be calculated using quantum equations, which is really surprising.
I can’t talk about the experiments one by one today, so I’ll just give a few examples, such as the Necker cube test. You can see this cube:

Is it the result obtained by looking down from the arrow above or looking up? Raise your hand if you think it is looking down, raise your hand if you think it is looking up, raise your hand if you have changed your mind! ——-As long as it is tested, it is actually judged that consciousness is oscillating ^[3] . In the end, they used the quantum oscillation model to calculate this matter:

This is very simple, and the frequency of oscillation can even be calculated. The most surprising result of their measurement is that when they compared it with the psychological experiment, the frequency of oscillation was consistent. Therefore, the measurement of human thinking can be quantified in this experiment.

Can a living brain cell that can generate consciousness be in a superposition and entanglement of multiple quantum states? Although Schrödinger proposed the quantum entanglement paradox of the cat being dead and the cat being alive a long time ago, we certainly know that if a macroscopic object as large as a cat is really entangled in quantum states, it will immediately decoherence, and we are almost completely unable to observe the superposition of the cat's dead and alive states. However, Dr. Yin Zhangqi of Tsinghua University's School of Cross-Disciplinary Information Sciences said that they have a cooperative project with Purdue University: using living bacteria to conduct this quantum entanglement experiment. The plan has been published ^[4] . The experiment has not been completed yet and is still in progress. But if it is completed, what does it mean? It is very shocking that such a macroscopic living organism as bacteria, which can reach the micrometer level, can be in a quantum superposition state. Because bacteria are already larger than human brain cells, if bacteria can be in quantum entanglement and superposition, then human brain cells are in some kind of quantum superposition. I think it is very likely, so I look forward to their experiments coming out with results as soon as possible!

If the brain cells that produce consciousness can really be in a certain quantum superposition state, then large-scale consciousness association, that is, the coordinated generation of "cluster consciousness", is not impossible! Not long ago, I told Mr. Xiao and others about the intelligence of a Maxwell demon, such as the flocking of birds in the sky:

The "basic protocol" of each bird is to recognize that the distance between each other cannot exceed half a meter, but each bird has formed the "Intelligence of Maxwell's Demon". Just like the blockchain protocol of Bitcoin allows thousands of "miners" to keep accounts and generate credit, a large number of birds can produce a low-entropy system. Why does each bird execute the same "basic protocol" at that moment? If the pace is inconsistent, such a shape cannot be formed. There must be some kind of "cluster consciousness". Among the entire bird cluster, I believe that their thinking is related and it is impossible to be completely isolated.
So, to sum up, although what I disagree with most in many popular science articles written nowadays is that they always contrast Einstein with quantum mechanics, in fact, I checked the literature history and found that Einstein was the first to propose that if quantum mechanics really has uncertainty, then non-locality must exist ^[5] .

We can roughly say that the uncertainty of the world we see is basically due to the subsequent quantum nonlocality. The Chinese idiom "seeing the leopard through the tube" vividly describes this thing:

You only see a very small localized part of the overall correlation. Although humans now increasingly believe that quantum uncertainty is essential, Einstein spoke more profoundly about "non-locality". Although quantum mechanics seems to lose some certainty compared to classical Newtonian mechanics (scientific predictions become probabilistic in quantum mechanics), we have obtained a lot of information about the overall correlation of the world that we cannot see. This is a huge progress in quantum mechanics and a huge progress in human cognition.

Later, I helped these kids summarize. I said that you proposed CloudMind, which acknowledges the uncertainty of human consciousness, but is also integrally related, using the human brain and computer-friendly interfaces to dynamically capture, and using blockchain algorithms to achieve a mechanism and notarization for optimal collective decision-making. We used to say that decision-making is a matter for one person or one center. In fact, real decision-making should be a collective or all of humanity reaching a certain consensus. That is what real decision-making is!

Due to time constraints, I will not elaborate on this. Currently, one example of cloud decision making is Augur, which is developed on Ethereum. It is completely Internet-based and P2P, and everyone can participate. For example, what is the next stock market price likely to be? The judgment of a single person is very inaccurate, but if there are many participants, due to the existence of "crowd consciousness", when the information is completely transparent, the prediction is often much closer to the actual occurrence. ^[6]

This is what ROGER VER (Bit Jesus) said: "Prediction markets are likely to be one of the most exciting and groundbreaking innovative applications of blockchain technology."

Just now the boss also talked about reducing financial risks. If there is a mechanism with completely transparent information and a very good forecast of the future market, it should play a big role in reducing future risks and so-called irrational investments.

Let me conclude by saying that CloudMind allows us to have a transparent and fair decision-making system like the "Trisolarans", keeps us away from tricks and frauds, and strives to prevent our descendants from seeing our generation's "Empresses in the Palace". We hope to enter a completely new civilization. Thank you!
