Bitcoin Will Let You Buy 2016's Most Anticipated Games

No Man's Sky - arguably the most anticipated game of 2016, or one of the contenders, will accept Bitcoin as a form of purchase in the game when it launches in August.

Combined with the fact that Bitcoin is a no-brainer for digital distribution platforms, they found that anyone, anywhere in the world could buy games, music, or movies with cryptocurrency (Netflix has hinted at this).

In the gaming industry, PC gaming platform Steam earlier this year allowed its 125 million active users to use Bitcoin as a method of purchase, benefiting both buyers and sellers.

Developers are starting to take notice, too. With the ability to purchase games with cryptocurrencies on Steam (for PC users), the official No Man's Sky website is also accepting Bitcoin directly on its website.

Cryptocurrency payments can also be used alongside traditional payment methods.

The hype for No Man's Sky was based on the game's promise to offer something completely unique and innovative.

PS4 owners are out of luck, having to make purchases through the PlayStation Store or traditional channels like Amazon. However, a Bitcoin-enabled debit card can be used to purchase PlayStation Store items, which can then be redeemed for a download code for the game.

While game developers and publishers often sell games and products on their websites, Bitcoin is not usually a payment method they offer. Perhaps the independent developer behind this innovative game based on math and code is the right person to accept Bitcoin.
