Charlie Shrem , former vice chairman of the Bitcoin Foundation and co-founder and CEO of bitcoin exchange BitInstant , was recently released from prison. Charlie Shrem told CCN last year: "I was released from prison in Lewisburg a few weeks ago. I want to thank all the friends who have written to me, sent me books, money, magazines, and thank you for your support. I can't express my gratitude to you." Just yesterday, Charlie Shrem 's public blog was updated for the first time in a long time and posted a photo of himself and his girlfriend. He also attached a text: "My girlfriend and I are temporarily relocating to southern Pennsylvania . We plan to enjoy the outdoors, food, Giti, friends, and the little things I've missed in the summer and get back to some normalcy. I'm excited to be home again. I'm also excited to announce a new project that I hope you'll be hanging out with." Charlie Shrem was previously arrested at Kennedy Airport in January 2014 for his involvement in the Silk Road money laundering case . Shrem was imprisoned in Lewisburg Prison for 14 months and was released on March 30, 2015. Although he is now free, his personal communications are still monitored and he is not allowed to accept any media interviews. |
