More than 40 bitcoins were stolen, and the financial manager sued the website for 410,000 yuan

On July 25 , Beijing Haidian Court issued a case report today. The court received a lawsuit from Mr. Shi, a user of Bibei.com. Because the bitcoins stored in Bibei.com for financial management were stolen, Mr. Shi sued Beijing Bibei Technology Co., Ltd., the operator of Bibei.com, to the court, demanding compensation for economic losses totaling more than 410,000 yuan.

Mr. Shi claimed that he had registered on several Bitcoin trading platforms to trade Bitcoin since February 2015, and that he owned Bitcoin on several websites including Bibei.com, Yuanbao.com, and Huobi.com. In May 2016 , the thief redeemed more than 40 Bitcoins that he had placed on Bibei.com for financial management, and transferred these Bitcoins to the thief's newly registered account by sending red envelopes, and then withdrew them to his private wallet. During these operations, Bibei.com, as a network management platform, failed to fulfill its security obligations and did not provide any information prompts to users. After that, the thief took advantage of the security loopholes of Bibei.com, transferred Mr. Shi's Bitcoins on Huobi.com and Yuanbao.com to Bibei.com, withdrew them, and stole them, causing Mr. Shi to lose a total of more than 400,000 yuan .

Mr. Shi believes that Bibei.com, as an online trading platform for Bitcoin and charging fees, has formed a service contract relationship with Mr. Shi. Bibei.com failed to fulfill its security obligations, causing damage to Mr. Shi, and should compensate Mr. Shi for the relevant losses.

Recently, the Haidian Court accepted the case, which is currently under further trial.
