9 suspects brought to justice, 202 Bitcoin mining machines seized

On July 12 , the police from the Gaoxin Police Station of the Municipal Public Security Bureau successfully cracked a major theft of Bitcoin mining machines using a variety of investigative methods, arrested nine suspects , and went to other provinces to seize 202 Bitcoin mining machines with a total value of more than 500,000 yuan .

On September 11 last year, the victim Chen came to the Gaoxin Police Station to report that his 202 Bitcoin mining machines stored in a factory in a village in the demonstration zone were stolen, with a total loss of more than 500,000 yuan. After receiving the alarm, the police from the Gaoxin Police Station's case investigation team immediately rushed to the scene. Due to heavy rain the night before, the traces on the ground had been destroyed, but the police learned from visiting the public that two cars had appeared at the scene that night.

The police conducted extensive investigations on the suspected vehicles and eventually identified two suspected car owners. After further investigation, the police obtained basic information about a nine- member theft gang. In order not to alert the suspects, the police developed a detailed arrest plan. In July this year , nine suspects were arrested.

It is understood that in September last year , the criminal suspect Ke learned that someone in a village in the demonstration zone was using a Bitcoin mining machine. Although he did not know much about Bitcoin mining machines, he also wanted to use them to make money, so he found Mi and Wang who knew how to play Bitcoin. After Mi and Wang looked at the machine, they discussed with Ke and decided that Ke would steal the machine, and then Mi and Wang would sell the machine.

Because there were many and heavy machines, Ke asked Qin, Han, and Zhao for help, and Zhao asked Wang, Guo, and Jiang for help. On the evening of September 10 last year , under the leadership of Ke, Zhao and others drove to the village where the Bitcoin mining machines were stored. Ke was a local, and he was worried that he would be recognized by the villagers, so he took Zhao and others to the place where the Bitcoin mining machines were stored and then went home. Zhao distributed the raincoats, masks, and gloves he had prepared in advance to everyone, then destroyed the door locks of the factory and stole all the Bitcoin mining machines. Afterwards, Zhao stored the machines in a warehouse in the city, and then Mi and Wang sold them.

After interrogation, the nine suspects confessed to theft, selling stolen goods, and concealing and hiding the proceeds of crime. On July 12 this year , the police from the special task force went to other provinces to recover the stolen goods.
