Decentralized semi-autonomous platform Synereo is moving forward with alpha development

With the recent Ethereum and The DAO incident sparking heated debate about the reliability of autonomous systems, Synereo noted that it will make the Alpha version of its decentralized platform available as a semi-autonomous system.

Synereo says its platform will provide all the layers necessary to create dApps in the emerging decentralized economy. It will create fully decentralized protocols and applications that can be truly layered into algorithms, a mathematical method specifically developed for reasoning about distributed and parallel computer operations.

Those behind the platform believe that the human element of autonomous work is extremely necessary because machines and programs are not advanced enough to do things perfectly.

“Here’s the thing: if you build a public economic censorship-resistant computer infrastructure, in other words, you store the state of a global computer on a blockchain so that when you create an application that runs on that computer, nobody can record it and it can’t be recorded,” Synereo CTO Greg Meredith said in an interview titled Focus on the Economy on the 75th episode of the Bitcoin Podcast.

He added:

“So they have an autonomous agent, and if we commit to these program delegations critical digital assets like the ability to launch a car, or a fleet of cars, or move a large sum of money around the world over the Internet, these are really serious and alarming issues.

We are giving these programs a kind of autonomy that we have to think about very carefully. One of the reasons we have to think about it very carefully is that we really can’t know what these programs are going to do, as I said in a recent interview with Ether Review. I don’t think people understand that. We don’t know what the programs are going to do.”

The hosts of the podcast said that Synereo’s formally verified smart contract language could have prevented the DAO attack. They also said that they received positive responses from many conversations about sharing Synereo’s “DAO-proof” code. The interest in working with the platform and leveraging their smart contract framework has increased.

According to Synereo CEO Dor Konforty, Synereo’s first dapp will be a social layer that will be part of a larger platform that will give developers the tools they need to create fully decentralized applications, both in terms of design and features. It will form the basis of a whole new type of economy that is inherently decentralized, where any agent on the network can contact any other and communicate or exchange value directly without going through any middleman, just by agreeing to a protocol and knowing that they are done; the transaction is trustworthy.”
