The ETC community meeting seeks to port the Ethereum client to ETC and explore the creation of a consensus structure

The original Ethereum blockchain is not going to die.

As a result of the Ethereum network’s July hard fork, the blockchain has not only survived but is developing into a competing version of the decentralized application platform. Now, the platform’s supporters are beginning to mobilize.

Ethereum Classic supporters held their first official gathering in London, with some backers seeing the event as the official launch of the newly created community.

Overall, the goal of the gathering was to outline the project’s development goals, as well as the financial and legal implications of a hard fork. Speakers at the gathering included Simon Taylor, head of blockchain research at 11:FS, and Nishant Bhaskar, head of Lloyds Banking Group.

Lead organizer Arvicco spoke first, pointing out that ETC supporters do not want to support a system that has many drawbacks.

Arvicco said in a statement:

“Only those communities that can clearly define their values and stick to them, no matter what the odds, will succeed in a world of free and voluntary cooperation without coercion.”

A slide presentation during the event showed that the team is keen to lay out a roadmap for ETC’s development.

The roadmap includes porting Ethereum clients to ETC to enable ETC to support the launch of new network tools, as well as exploring how developers can create a consensus structure that deviates from Ethereum’s originally planned POS system.

Perhaps the most notable appearance, however, was by Bitcoin developer and Ethereum miner Chandler Guo, who a month ago threatened to launch a 51% attack on ETC using his mining power, but now said at the event that he is 100% ready to support ETC.

Regarding his initial support for the Ethereum hard fork, Guo Hongcai said:

"I made a mistake earlier."

He then called on Chinese Ethereum supporters to support ETC.

He also said:

“This is not a joke. This is a revolution. This is freedom. God bless ETC.”

Organizers say other upcoming ETC meetups will take place in Zurich, Shanghai, Melbourne, and Toronto.
