EY Switzerland plans to accept Bitcoin payments next year

Rage Comment : In addition to publishing research and analysis reports, EY's global branches also cooperate with local enterprises and institutions to develop blockchain applications. This includes the blockchain technology single event of its London office, the development of blockchain gold trading clearing and settlement tools, and many other projects we have mentioned. Recently, EY announced that it will begin to accept Bitcoin payments next year, and will conduct technical explanations and provide wallet services within the company. Previously, the Swiss Federal Railways and the public service department of the Swiss town of Zug also began to accept Bitcoin payments.

EY Switzerland has decided to start accepting Bitcoin payments next year.

The company said it will begin accepting bitcoin payments in January next year, will also install a new bitcoin ATM in Zurich, and will provide wallet services exclusively for EY employees.

The announcement may be an extension of Switzerland’s current digital currency testing program.

Last month, international news broke that Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) announced it would sell bitcoin at ticket points across the country. SBB plans to conduct a two-year pilot test. In May, the Swiss town of Zug began accepting bitcoin payments for public services, and the Swiss legislature in Bern began discussing bitcoin regulation.

Marcel Stalder

The decision was made to conduct an experiment. Marcel Stalder, CEO of EY Switzerland, said the company wants employees to have useful knowledge of digital currencies and blockchain; the way to do that is by providing educational opportunities.

"We don't just want to discuss digitalization, but also actively promote the project with employees and customers. Everyone's participation is important, and everyone should be ready to respond to the changes that blockchain, digital currency and smart contracts bring to business."

Ernst & Young is one of the Big Four accounting firms that is actively involved in blockchain research and development. It recently organized a blockchain technology competition and identified three blockchain technology startups.

Earlier this year, EY helped the Australian government auction off bitcoins from the black market Silk Road, raising $16 million.
