Rare! Egypt is accused of secretly using citizens' computers to "mine"

As the price of Bitcoin soared, all walks of life joined the Bitcoin mining craze, and some controversial actions were also exposed. According to the latest news from foreign media, some telecommunications companies in Egypt were accused of asking users to download malware so that their computers could be used to mine cryptocurrencies.

According to reports from multiple foreign technology media, security researchers from the University of Toronto in Canada recently released a report stating that broadband service providers such as Telecom Egypt have redirected Internet users' access requests to some malicious websites and software.

If users download this malware, their computers will become a tool for obtaining cryptocurrency.

Researchers said it was rare to see citizens' computers exploited on such a large scale to obtain cryptocurrency.

This conspiracy to mine using user computers is called "AdHose." Researchers scanned 5,700 Egyptian user computers in January this year and found that 95% of them had been implanted with AdHose malware. This shows that this plan has been going on for a long time and the bad guys behind it have made considerable profits.

Recently, the Apple software store was also exposed to contain malicious software that used users' mobile phones to mine cryptocurrencies, and the relevant software has been removed from the shelves.

In addition, a large number of malicious websites have been exposed on the Internet before, which can use visitors' computers to mine Bitcoin through scripts and other means.
