Lenovo and others launch mining phones

According to China Business News, mobile phone manufacturers are eager to catch up with the blockchain craze. Since 2018, Candy, Changhong, Lenovo, and HTC have launched blockchain phones. Among them, Candy Genesis Edition blockchain phone and Changhong R8 Kirin phone both focus on mining functions, Lenovo S5 focuses on payment security, and HTC Exodus focuses on blockchain pet game functions.

The report said that in the view of blockchain and mobile phone industry insiders, blockchain phones are more like a gimmick as mobile phone companies have not yet completed the setting of access and management permissions for blockchain and achieved decentralization of blockchain.

As mainstream mobile phone manufacturers are taking a wait-and-see attitude towards blockchain phones, Wang Yanhui, founder of the China Mobile Alliance, told a reporter from China Business News that lagging mobile phone companies are avoiding competing with mainstream manufacturers in areas such as screens, cameras, and artificial intelligence, and choosing the niche blockchain market. This strategy of retreating to advance may give them a chance to breathe.
