Green Energy Bitcoin Mining Has Minimal Impact on the Environment

Hass McCook's research shows that Bitcoin mining uses a lot of energy (electricity). That is, its environmental impact depends entirely on the "green performance" (or lack thereof) of the global energy grid. If the global power grid is not nearly emission-free by 2050, then the renewable energy industry should be ashamed of its lack of market success. But if the power grid is zero-emission, Bitcoin's environmental impact will be minimal. (CCN)
