Biyin Mining Pool’s explanation of Sia hard fork and notice of supporting SiaClassic mining

Biyin released an announcement about the SC hard fork:

-------Dividing line of mining network------------

Dear Biyin Mining Pool users:

Hello! Sia will undergo a hard fork upgrade at block height 179,000. According to the theoretical 10-minute block time, it will be around 2:00 a.m. on November 1, Beijing time. This hard fork will produce two chains, namely:

1) Sia, which will be mainly mined with graphics cards in the future;

2) SiaClassic, the original chain, can continue to mine with Innosilicon S11 and Antminer A3.

Regarding this hard fork, many miners have already learned that the existing mining machines such as Xindong S11 and Antminer A3 will no longer be able to mine Sia after the fork, and can only mine SiaClassic. This statement is actually not completely accurate. To be precise, these mining machines can still continue to mine Sia, but after the hard fork, the computing power will be very low, so low that it can be understood that they can no longer mine.

Why do we say that? We need to understand what exactly was upgraded in this hard fork. This hard fork upgrade modified the random number Nonce check after the miner mines a block in the POW algorithm. After the modification, the computing power of the mining machines such as Xindong S11 and Antminer A3 will become 1/1009 of the existing computing power. Taking Xindong S11 as an example, its theoretical computing power is 3.83T. If it continues to mine Sia after the hard fork, the computing power will be about 3.8G, which is far from enough to pay the electricity bill.

*Note: This does not affect the computing power of Obelisk miners. If you have Obelisk miners, you can continue to mine Sia.

Regarding SiaClassic mining, you need to focus on the following points:

1. The CoinIn mining pool now supports SiaClassic mining. You only need to connect your mining machine to the CoinIn mining pool. When the block height of the hard fork is reached, the CoinIn mining pool will switch your computing power to SiaClassic mining with one click.

2. The CoinIn mining pool will switch your computing power to the SiaClassic currency under the same sub-account for mining with one click. After the switch, the wallet address under your SiaClassic sub-account will be empty, and you need to log in to the mining pool to set the wallet address. If you do not fill it in, your mining income will be temporarily stored in the mining pool;

3. If the payment address you set in the mining pool is the official full-node wallet address, please be careful not to upgrade the wallet. You need to keep the wallet at version 1.3.5 or below (version 1.3.4 is recommended), otherwise the income may be lost or not credited to the account;

4. If the payment address you set in the mining pool is the payment address of the exchange, please confirm with the exchange in advance whether it supports SiaClassic payment, otherwise the income may be lost or not credited to the account;

5. If you currently store your mining income in a mining pool because you have not set a Sia address, please fill in the address in time. If you do not fill in the address, your Sia balance will become SiaClassic after the hard fork is completed.

About SiaClassic wallets and exchanges:

1. Wallet: Official full-node wallet (must use version 1.3.5 and below, 1.3.4 is recommended). You can download the 1.3.4 version for Windows in the attachment at the end of this article. It is recommended to download from the official address. The attachment in this article is for reference only.

2. Exchange: To be determined

Because Sia will hard fork into two chains, there will be problems with candy collection after the hard fork. For this, you need to pay attention to:

1. Biyin only plays the role of a mining pool, not a wallet, in this process. It is not responsible for the distribution of Sia and SiaClassic hard fork candies. You need to consult your wallet or exchange for confirmation;

2. If you are using an official full-node wallet, you need to store Sia in your wallet before the hard fork. You need to run two wallet versions at the same time, one version 1.3.5 and below (version 1.3.4 is recommended), and one version 1.3.6 and above. Both versions use the same private key. After the hard fork is completed, you can get the corresponding candy;

3. If you use the exchange address, you need to confirm with the exchange whether it will issue candies.
