The spring of miners is quietly approaching. On November 6, news reported that the National Development and Reform Commission deleted the "elimination of virtual currency mining" from the list of "elimination industries". Instantly, this news became a hot topic in the circle of friends, and the price of the currency also rose slightly.

So, when was it included in the list of “eliminable industries”? This happened not long ago, on April 9 this year. On that day, the miners were in a state of panic. The industry that was originally uncertain felt like it was being convicted. That night, I posted an appeal on Weibo to express my dissatisfaction:

"The Bitcoin mine is smokeless, low-carbon, green and environmentally friendly. It does not require quality inspection, no defective products, no after-sales service, no triangular debts, cash and spot goods, no water and no oil consumption, just some electricity. It can consume the water and electricity consumption in the western region, promote local employment, produce the most advanced blockchain assets, and increase national foreign exchange. In fact, before this, the government had already imposed enough restrictions on mining. From Inner Mongolia, Sichuan to Xinjiang, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, together with local power departments, issued documents to the areas under their jurisdiction to restrict Bitcoin mining or prohibit the sale of electricity to the Bitcoin mining industry. During this period, I remember that Canaan Creative, Bixin and some people with lofty ideals did some popularization work for the government and analyzed the pros and cons, but under the general trend, it was of no avail. The restrictions are still restrictions, and the prohibitions are still prohibitions.

This was a big blow to many miners at the time. When the miners received the notice, they had to shed tears and hold hatred. They took down their mining machines, looked for places to put them, and then loaded them onto trucks for transportation across China. This scene reminded me of the time when a student at Southwest Associated University cried out loudly, "In such a big country like China, why can't we have a quiet desk?"

One of my miner friends had a particularly unfortunate fate. When he was mining in Inner Mongolia, Inner Mongolia issued a notice. Then he went to Sichuan, and soon received another notice. He was exhausted and had no intention of doing infrastructure construction, so he moved to Shihezi, Xinjiang for trusteeship. Unexpectedly, Shihezi also issued a notice soon. He was filled with grief and anger, so he had to go through untold hardships to build his own mine in Yunnan and transport the machines from Xinjiang. It is said that Yunnan also issued a notice later, but he did not receive it, so he mined in Yunnan every day with fear and fear. Think about him sitting on a big truck to transport his mining machines all over the country. Isn't he a beekeeper who is getting old, driving his bees to find the flowering season.

Among them, I also heard a magical story. A small hydropower station in Sichuan signed a five-year electricity contract with miners. Before that, this small hydropower station was just barely operating, because there was too much power supply in Sichuan, and the electricity produced by the small hydropower station could not be sold. The west-to-east power transmission has long been a history. It can only generate electricity one or two days a week and then sell it to the power grid. The rest of the time is idle. Later, the miners came to this land and signed a contract with the small hydropower station. Everyone knows that Bitcoin is mined around the clock, so the small hydropower station also generates electricity around the clock, 7*24 hours, and the income has increased geometrically. But as the price of the currency rose, it was the owner of the small hydropower station who saw the charm of this thing, and the boss's mind became alive, feeling that mining was too profitable. After Sichuan issued a ban on selling electricity to the mining industry, the owner of this company quickly took the printed notice and told the miner to remove the mining machine and move it away overnight. The miner looked up to the sky and howled, but had to do it. Not long after, the miner went back and found that the machines were still rumbling. So, while the boss was away, he asked the mine staff, who said that after he moved the mining machine, the owner of the small hydropower station quickly raised money to buy a mining machine and mined his own electricity...

I have infinite enthusiasm for Bitcoin mining. The most friends in the circle are miners. I have endless enthusiasm for mining stories. In the ancient river basins, the most cutting-edge blockchain civilization is being maintained, so this is the coolest business.”
