The first round of the Filecoin Space Race (SR1) ended at 5:59 am on September 15, 2020 (Beijing time), and the Space Race entered the second round (SR2). In view of different test areas, SR2 is divided into two different tracks, Track 1 and Track 2, to target different groups.

Track 1 - Orbital Burn

Track 1 - Orbital Burn has now seamlessly connected to SR1 and will be officially launched on September 15th. It is expected to last for three weeks, but the official may make adjustments based on network conditions. Storage miners are mainly encouraged to continue testing and expand the network scale.

The total rewards of Orbital Burn are expected to exceed SR1's 4.5 million FIL, mainly reflected in:

Some sectors that are successfully packaged and maintained by miners will be directly transferred to the main network;
The transferred sectors will not need to be re-mortgaged;
The test FIL obtained by miners in mining will be rewarded with real FIL according to a certain ratio.

Track 2 - Slingshot

Filecoin officially released the latest news about Track 2-Slingshot through a blog on September 19, Beijing time:

It will start on September 24th, Beijing time, and end on October 15th. It is only applicable to storage customers and developers.

Slingshot's maximum prize pool is 500,000 FIL, which mainly encourages storage clients and miners to conduct storage and retrieval transactions and store real, valuable and available data on the Space Race test network. The more real, valuable and owned data a participant has on the Filecoin network, the more FIL they earn.
