World's first physical statue of Satoshi Nakamoto unveiled in Hungary

A bronze statue of Bitcoin's legendary creator Satoshi Nakamoto is now on display for visitors at Budapest's Graphisoft Park.
At the unveiling ceremony on September 16, András Győrfi, co-founder of the statue project and editor of cryptocurrency news site Kripto Akademia, spoke to a crowd of journalists and Hungarian residents before revealing the glorious face of Satoshi Nakamoto. The work shows a bust of Nakamoto with no features on his face, wearing a hoodie with the Bitcoin logo.
“No matter who he or she is, Bitcoin creates value, and especially the technology behind Bitcoin, blockchain, creates value,” Győrfi said.
Debreczeni Barnabás, CEO of Hungarian cryptocurrency exchange Shinrai, also spoke at the ceremony, adding:
“Satoshi Nakamoto created an independent currency without any middleman, giving people financial sovereignty… We erect this statue to remind ourselves that courage is a virtue. We need to continue to dream big.”
The statue, created by sculptors Gergely Réka and Tamás Gilly, was first unveiled in May this year and is designed to be mirrored, as if to convey to onlookers the idea that “we are all Satoshi Nakamoto.” The “Satoshi Nakamoto Statue” project has received support from Mr. Coin, Kripto Akademia, the Blockchain Hungary Association, and Bitcoin and Blockchain Budapest.
Satoshi Nakamoto's portrait will stand in Graphisoft Park alongside portraits of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and other famous figures. While people have speculated about Satoshi's identity and appearance, no one has successfully identified the bitcoin creator.
