The former operator of the bitcoin poker site Seals with Clubs was sentenced to two years probation and fined $25,000 today after pleading guilty to running an illegal gaming site earlier this year.
Bryan Micon pleaded guilty in July after being charged by the Nevada Department of Justice in the spring. Micon's hearing will be held at 9 a.m. local time in Las Vegas, according to the Department of Justice.
When originally charged, Micon faced up to 10 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
The Nevada charges emerged after Seals with Clubs abruptly closed in February. That same month, state gaming officials searched Micon's home and found he had flown to Antigua.
Micon later returned to the United States to face multiple charges.
According to the Associated Press, his defense attorney Richard Shonfeld said, "Micon will complete his probation in Las Vegas, then move to Antigua with his family and find a job in the technology department of a newspaper." |
