Seeing the disease through the color of palmistry

Seeing the disease through the color of palmistry

In the specific operation process of palmistry diagnosis, one thing is not to forget to combine the changes in color for analysis and inference. The so-called diagnosis of disease by combining color changes is a method of identifying diseases based mainly on the changes in complexion. The diagnosis of diseases by hand and inspection is mainly based on the "Inspection by Observation" book from the late Qing Dynasty. The book introduces many basic methods of inspection, such as observing the hands and face. Diagnosing illness by observing the color of the hands is the most advanced method of diagnosing illness by observing the hands.

Observing the luster of the skin on your palms and backs of your hands is like observing jade. Good jade is transparent and moist, and your hands are just like a baby's, transparent and moist. Skin that is bright, moist, translucent and rosy is said to have qi, just as the ancients said, "bright and moist" is qi. If there is qi and blood, there is moisture, and if there is moisture, there is brightness. Those who write dark and dry manuscripts call it lifeless. In clinical work, we often see some critically ill patients, whose hands are dull and withered. Even if the clinical symptoms are not severe or obvious, the prognosis is not good. If the complexion is bright and shiny, the disease is mild and easy to treat, and the body can recover easily; on the contrary, if the complexion is dull, the disease is severe and long-lasting.
The so-called color diagnosis of disease mainly refers to observing the changes in the color of the palm to predict the development and changes of the disease. This is based on the principles of Chinese medicine's visual diagnosis to divination of diseases. For example, in traditional Chinese medicine's visual diagnosis, if the color is dark, it means the disease is internal and the illness is serious; if the color is light, it means the disease is external and the illness is mild; if the color is on the upper part, it means the disease is in the upper part of the body; if the color is on the lower part, it means the disease is in the lower part. According to the principles of visual diagnosis in traditional Chinese medicine, there are also the five-color method of diagnosing disease and the method of identifying color changes, which serve as the general outline for grasping this method. The five colors are blue, yellow, red, white and black. Green belongs to wind and wood, which corresponds to the liver; yellow belongs to wet earth, which corresponds to the spleen; red belongs to summer fire, which corresponds to the heart; white belongs to dry gold, which corresponds to the lungs; black belongs to cold wood, which corresponds to the kidneys. Regarding the relationship between the five colors and physiological and pathological conditions, Su Wen - Discussion on Meridians and Collaterals says: The meridians have constant colors, but the collaterals do not change constantly. The changes between the Yang meridians are unpredictable and follow the four seasons. If there is too much cold, they will become condensed and astringent, and if they are condensed and astringent, they will turn blue-black. If there is too much heat, they will become moist, and if they are moist, they will turn yellow-red. These are all normal colors, which means there is no disease. This is based on normal physiology. In terms of the color of the disease, blue and black generally represent pain, yellow represents heat, and white represents cold. In addition, "Lingshu·On Diagnosis of Diseases" also said: When diagnosing the blood vessels, more red means heat, more blue means pain, more black means long-term, and more red, black, and blue mean a cold. When it comes to observing the five colors of the palm, there is a passage in Lingshu Jingmai Pian that says it very authoritatively: If there is cold in the stomach, the meridians in the palm of hand (Mound of Venus) will be mostly blue; if there is heat in the stomach, the meridians in the palm of hand will be red; if the meridians suddenly turn black, it is due to long-term numbness; if there are red, black and blue, it is due to cold and heat; if the blue is short, it means there is little energy.
In addition to the five-color diagnosis of diseases, let’s look at the method of identifying color changes.
There are ten general methods to distinguish color changes, namely: floating, sinking, clear, turbid, fine, severe, scattered, clustered, moist, and short. The main function of the ten color change methods is to judge the severity of the disease. The ten major principles are as follows:
①②Floating and sinking The so-called floating means that the color is hidden under the skin, which means that the disease is on the surface and the disease is relatively mild.
The so-called deep color means that the color is hidden in the deep layer of the skin, which means that the disease is inside and is relatively serious.
③④ Clear and turbid The so-called clear means that the color looks comfortable and uniform. It is a yang disease and a surface disease.
The so-called turbidity means that its color is relatively darker and heavier. The disease is in the yin, inside, and the disease is also relatively serious.
⑤⑥Wei, Shen The so-called Wei refers to the light color, which indicates deficiency of vital energy.
The so-called "shen" means the color is dark and thick, which means the evil qi is relatively solid.
⑦⑧ Scattered and clustered The so-called scattered means that the color spreads in all directions, which means that the disease is relatively recent and has not been for long, or the disease happened during this period of time.
The so-called cluster means that Qi and blood gather in one part, which means that the disease is far away, lasts for a long time, or is serious.
⑨⑩Ze, Yao The so-called Ze means moist, which means that Qi and blood are vigorous and moist.
The so-called premature death refers to withering, which is usually a serious illness and death.
The above ten methods of distinguishing colors are the basic methods in Chinese medicine diagnosis by observation. Among them, floating, light, scattered, moist and subtle belong to the yang part, while sinking, turbid, severe, round and short belong to the yin part.
When there is a disease, there will be changes in color. The changes in color are based on the changes in the internal organs. Observe the disease by observing the color. The colors of different parts represent different diseases. To know what disease you have, you should first know the normal color changes. The normal color of the liver is cyan; the normal color of the heart is red; the normal color of the lungs is white; the normal color of the spleen and stomach is yellow; and the color of the kidneys is black. The colors in spring are a little darker. The color is lighter in summer, lighter in autumn, and darker in winter.
Summary ① If your palms appear dark, raised, with unclear spots around the edges, spreading in a spider-web pattern, and the entire palm is dark and dull, you should pay more attention and go to the hospital for examination in time to rule out the possibility of a malignant tumor.
②The spots on the complexion appear on the surface of the skin, which means the disease is on the surface. It generally refers to the initial stage of the disease, when the condition is mild, easy to treat and the prognosis is good.
③The spots on complexion appear deep in the skin, indicating that the disease is internal. It generally means that the disease is a chronic disease and the condition is serious.
④If the complexion spots on the palms change from floating to sinking, it means that the symptoms are getting worse. On the contrary, it indicates that the symptoms are alleviated.
⑤The skin appears thin, smooth and shiny, which means that the internal organs are too weak.
⑥ The skin appears thicker and has a coarser texture, indicating that the texture of the internal organs is thickening and aging.
⑦ Pale complexion is a sign of deficiency of body’s vital energy. A dark complexion is a sign of excess evil energy in the body. If the spots are densely present or diffuse in a specific area, it means that the disease is more serious or gradually getting worse. On the contrary, if the spots gradually dissipate, it means the condition is improving.
