For many ladies who love beauty, piercing their ears can bring them a different spiritual temperament. Today I saw a strange statement, "Ear piercing is a kind of disfigurement. Physiognomists believe that disfigurement will reduce one's fortune, so people with pierced ears have ups and downs in luck. The thicker and longer the earlobes, the more blessings one will have in old age. Parents will stay with you during your youth, and you will be strong and energetic during your middle age. But when you are old, your parents will return home and you will lack strength. The only thing you can rely on is your children and pension. Ears are the home of babies and the house of old age. They cannot be damaged!" The original definition of disfigurement is: to reveal one's true face and make a fool of oneself. Damaged facial features, extended to mean defects. It mainly refers to the face losing its original appearance due to injury or other reasons. In early vernacular, it meant shame and disgrace. In Buddhist terminology, it means to eliminate all false appearances and directly reveal the true nature. From this we can see that in Buddhist terminology, "破" is a word with the opposite meaning but a positive meaning. All dharmas are empty, not only in theory but also in reality. Since all dharmas are empty, there is no wish and no desire. If one is wholeheartedly devoting himself to becoming a Buddha, then he will have the self-image. If he has the self-image, then all four images will be present. Then he is no longer a Bodhisattva but still an ordinary person. Keep a pure mind and don't be attached. Only by breaking the four phases can one manifest the phenomena according to circumstances. To leave the phenomena, one must start with great wisdom. No matter how smart and talented people in the world are, if they have attachments, then their wisdom is flawed. Even if they have no self-attachment, they still have attachment to dharma. Bodhisattva has no thoughts, which means he is formless. When a thought arises, there is a form. When all situations are present without any thoughts, this is the practice. The Dharma Realm originally has no form. The Buddhist view is that Buddha has thousands of forms, that is, thousands of dharmakayas, in order to save the world, transform sentient beings, and save the world to become Buddha, so it is not surprising that Buddha wears earrings. He is just a person who is used to giving everyone various opinions in the name of Buddha, but he doesn’t know that there are gods and Buddhas in the sky who also wear earrings? It's really ridiculous! Next, let’s take a look at some female celebrities and see if they wear earrings. There are the Queen of England, President Xi Jinping's wife Peng Liyuan, South Korean President Park Geun-hye, Yang Lan, Chairman of Sunshine Media Group and Sunshine Culture Foundation, and many more. They also have pierced ears, you can refer to the pictures on the Internet. In fact, there are very few socialites, successful female entrepreneurs, and female celebrities who do not have pierced ears, because earrings have become a way and habit to beautify oneself and show beauty. Obviously, the idea that piercing the ears will disfigure one's appearance and bring bad luck is a display of ignorance of customs! Of course, this does not mean that we support strange and non-mainstream dressing styles, because everyone is still accustomed to symmetrical beauty. If you like, it is better to have one piercing in each ear, and the earrings you wear should show elegance, grandeur, or playfulness. What exactly does the term "disfigurement" in our folk customs mean? A disfigured nose is said to represent wealth, and a disfigured nose will lead to loss of wealth and even affect the relationship between husband and wife. A disfigured chin can damage your status. A disfigured cheek can make one feel irritable. Disfigured eyebrows will bring harm to noble people and attract trouble. A disfigured lip will bring you trouble. The corner of the eye is the location of the spouse's palace, and a disfigured appearance will damage the family fortune. A disfigured forehead will harm the health of parents and their careers. These are all terms in physiognomy theory. Broken means damage and injury. Does popping a pimple count as disfiguring? Hey, you understand it yourself. The origin story of earrings. There is a legend about the origin of earrings in our country: in ancient times, there was a beautiful girl who suffered from eye disease and soon became blind. Later, a famous doctor passed by and felt pity for the girl. He pierced each of her earlobes with a silver needle. Soon, the girl's eyesight gradually recovered. In order to remember the kindness of this famous doctor, the girl asked a silversmith to make a pair of earrings for her earlobes. After this story spread, many women followed suit, and the earrings became popular. According to archaeologists, the origin of earrings can be traced back to 500,000 years ago, when the Chinese ape-men in Zhoukoudian began to make earrings out of stones, animal teeth or shells. Among the cultural relics unearthed from the Han Dynasty, many earrings were found made of magnet, jade, crystal and agate. In ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, gold and silver were often used to make basin-shaped earrings or twisted into thin threads to make various earrings. In ancient times, earrings were mostly made of gold, silver, jade and other materials, and were also very large and heavy. The popularity of earrings in China began during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. Before that, earrings were called "瑱, 珥, 珰" and so on. For example, "Shuowen Jiezi" says: "珥, 瑱也". "瑱, ears filled with jade." Volume 21 of Er Ya Yi says: "珰, pronounced as dang, means ear beads", Volume 3 of Ji Yun says "珰, means ears", and Volume 1 of Mao Shi Cao Mu Niao Shou Chong Yu Shu says when explaining "卷耳": "Like the jade pendants in women's ears, now called ear jade pendants". Later, the custom of piercing the ears with pendants appeared, but it was a custom learned from the barbarians or the Western Regions and did not become popular. Therefore, although Liu Xi of the Han Dynasty explained "珰" as "piercing the ears and applying pearls" in "Shi Ming", later dictionaries such as the above-mentioned "Erya Yi" and "Jiyun" still explained "珰" as "filling the ear beads". Master's summary: Since ancient times, piercing the ears and wearing earrings has been a very traditional way for women to dress themselves. As people's life concepts change, more and more men choose to pierce their ears. It can be seen that ear piercing is also an increasingly popular project. Are you still worried that getting your ears pierced will destroy your good fortune? |
