Buenos Aires was chosen as the venue for the first Latin American Bitcoin Conference after Argentina has seen strong growth in bitcoin trading recently, as high inflation and government-imposed capital controls have led people to look for alternative ways to move money.
Rodolfo Andragnes suggests that Bitcoin and blockchain could be disruptive technologies that spur a paradigm shift in how money is used.
As for the Buenos Aires City Government, Cecilia Lucca, coordinator of the Innovation Roundtable, explained that officials understand that Bitcoin is an emerging technology that is changing the world and will likely continue to grow exponentially. Lucca even highlighted how the Honduran government has used blockchain technology to create a more secure land registry system. |
