Do operating system privacy settings affect Bitcoin usage?

Being able to operate your Bitcoin wallet on your computer or mobile device at any time is one of the easiest ways to control the funds in your account.

But one thing that is often overlooked is that all devices need to run on an operating system, which may not be as secure as the everyday consumer.

In the worst case, all kinds of personal and private information about users can be leaked. The recent release of Windows 10 has increased the amount of leaked information as it tries to learn as much about the privacy of users as possible.

Windows 10: A free upgrade at the cost of privacy

The news that most people will be eligible for a free Windows 10 update once it is released is surprising, especially when we realize that users of pirated Windows 7 , Windows 8 , and Windows 8.1 have been able to upgrade their operating systems to genuine Windows 10 after a few attempts .

In addition, Microsoft has never provided free updates for operating systems before, because the update packages for those operating systems in the past took a lot of effort to produce.

That being said, this free Win10 upgrade is only valid for one year from the release date of Win10 . After this free period ends, users who want to continue using Win10 will have to spend money to purchase a genuine Win10 activation code.

So far, feedback from Windows 10 users has been largely positive. The new operating system appears to be bug- free , and while it's too early to say so, it does run much more smoothly than its predecessors. In addition, there are no error reports when installing drivers for various types of hardware, and all peripherals support the new Windows 10 platform.

As you might expect, in this era, there is no such thing as a free lunch, and it is impossible to get the right to use the genuine version for free. Win 10 is open to existing users as a free upgrade, but users need to pay with their privacy as the price.

Ars Technica recently published an article about the standard privacy settings in Windows 10 , and how they will change to give end users more data protection.

None of these standard privacy settings address any real concerns for end users, as there is no logging of keystrokes or settings that identify the type of application being installed on the device.

However, this doesn't mean that such privacy settings can't be used in the future. Government officials around the world want to know all the details about their citizens, and how people behave on a computer can be a reflection of how they behave in real life.

They explained the Win10 logging information in a very vague way, claiming that the keystrokes with the logging function are only used for auto-complete and spelling functions.

Additionally, other than “typing history , ” the “Getting To Know You” features do not specify what type of personal data they collect.

So far, we still don't know what kind of personal information this will involve, nor do we know what Microsoft wants to do with its " product improvement . " During the data collection process, sensitive fields are deleted, and all data is only sampled in a limited manner.

Will the use of Bitcoin be recorded in the future ?

The privacy settings of the operating systems that users use have become a source of great concern in recent days, amid rumors that government officials are pressuring manufacturers to add backdoors to hardware and software.

If this plan comes to pass - and one can only hope that it does not - the operating system will be the first software to have a backdoor installed.

At this time, it is unclear whether these software backdoors will be installed on the operating system. If a consumer runs a Bitcoin client on such a device, the government will be able to monitor the process and even steal funds. This possibility is very real at this time, which is why we need to be very careful when installing operating systems on devices.

For now, you don’t need to worry when operating Windows 10 or any other operating system. But in the coming months and years, it will be very important for us as consumers to be vigilant against backdoors, because privacy protection is on the verge of disappearing completely.
