Could Windows 10 threaten the privacy of your Bitcoin wallet?

Windows 10 has been praised by users for its stylish and simple user interface. Windows 10 has made many adjustments and improvements to Windows 8 and integrated the humanized voice assistant Cortana. However, users have discovered a big problem with the system during use, which is a threat to user privacy.

Windows 10 can "legally" access all personal data, emails and user files to provide relevant information to law enforcement or government agencies. The highly anticipated operating system has been turned into a spy tool for the National Security Agency, which can obtain data from Bitcoin wallets and systems.

Here’s an excerpt from Microsoft’s privacy statement:

"We have the right to access, disclose and preserve user personal information, including user content (such as the content of user emails, other private communications or files in private folders), and we do so in good faith and it is necessary: 1. To comply with applicable laws or respond to valid legal process, including law enforcement or other government agencies; 2. To protect our customers, such as preventing spam or attempts to defraud users of our services, or to help prevent personal safety and property losses; 3. To operate and maintain the security of our services, including preventing attacks on our computer systems or networks; 4. To protect Microsoft's rights or property, including enforcing the terms of use of the service, but if we receive information indicating that someone has misappropriated our company's intellectual property or Microsoft's physical property, we will not review customers' private content, but we can refer the issue to law enforcement agencies."

Non-browser Bitcoin wallets installed on Windows 10 could fall victim to Microsoft's privacy "protocol" as transaction details, identity information, codes and history could be passed to government agencies or law enforcement. In particular, sensitive data from BIP32 Bitcoin wallets could be sent directly to the National Security Agency.

A Reddit user said:

“I urge you to die with the idea of running a BIP32 Bitcoin wallet on Windows 10, both desktop and online BIP32 wallets, unless you want your wallet seed to be sent directly to the NSA. Not just the NSA, but any organization Microsoft wants to work with, such as local law enforcement, courts, Russian and Chinese hackers, etc.”
