Making small payments through the Internet has gradually become a normal part of our daily lives, such as giving rewards in WeChat articles and buying software in the App Store. However, ChangeTip believes that this is not enough. Based on Bitcoin, "social rewards" can make the Internet better.
ChangeTip, a San Francisco-based social bitcoin payment company, has been committed to providing a fee-free micropayment system. In their view, providing a convenient way for content creators to tip their content may eliminate the prevalence of clickbait and click-bait links on the Internet.
“Social tipping” is a way to show recognition and online freedom.
Prior to this, ChangeTip has successfully established cooperation with several major platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Reddit, and can tip on the web. Recently, ChangeTip has launched an independent iOS app to make tipping and receiving tips more convenient.
Because the entire payment system is based on Bitcoin, it is very different from the traditional payment experience. Users only need to click on the social network to give or receive a reward, for example, choose to pay 25 cents or $1 to the author, and ChangeTip will automatically convert it into Bitcoin and save it in a dedicated database. If it is not taken away within seven days, it will be returned to the rewarder.
There are two advantages to doing this: first, there are no handling fees, and second, the entire payment process will become very fast.
As mentioned before, before Bitcoin is "really" deposited or transferred, ChangeTip will conduct transfer transactions through off-blockchain. This is a private database that cannot be tracked and is also the core technology to ensure the security of the entire payment.
Based on this, ChangeTip makes transactions very fast. Only when Bitcoin is actually transferred in or out will it be transferred through the off-blockchain, that is, the settlement service is only used at the beginning and end of the transaction, thus simplifying the payment process.
In this way, ChangeTip believes that "a new type of Internet behavior" will emerge.
“Bitcoin tips are fast and free, and even small donations of a penny can be done quickly. This can effectively add economic value to “shares” or “likes” and even quickly accumulate wealth,” said Nick Sullivan, founder of ChangeTip, in an interview . “Once it becomes the easiest way to transfer money online, many interesting uses will be possible.”
In terms of small payments in digital currency, there is also DogeTip abroad , but it is limited to supporting DogeCoin transactions.
Creating a complete payment process system is only the first step. ChangeTip hopes that this method can encourage Internet content producers to be more creative and motivated. Not long ago, ChangeTip also gave out $10,000 to users on Twitch.tv for interactive rewards.
Currently, ChangeTip has more than 70,000 active users, and the average transaction amount of these active users is between $0.0001 and $25. Since its establishment in early 2014, ChangeTip's users have been growing at a rate of more than 30% per month. |
