Dave Pierce of the FutureCoin Foundation talks about the FutureCoin development plan for 2016

Bitcoin has many competitors, and NXT (Futurecoin) is one of them. NXT is a pure POS (Proof of Stake) digital currency that does not involve mining. It turns out that the NXT network is easier to maintain. In addition, various exchanges have also shown interest in NXT, and the LZF trading platform is one of the first exchanges to provide NXT for fiat currencies.

There have been very few articles about NXT over the past year or so, but NXT has sponsored a number of events around the world. One of the biggest events was Bitcoin 2014, where the NXT team had a booth and gave a short presentation at the conference.

Although there is little media coverage of NXT, this does not mean that people’s interest in NXT has waned. Bitcoin.com interviewed Dave Pearce of the NXT Foundation to learn about the recent development of NXT.

Bitcoin.com (BC): LZF trading platform provides NXT exchange for USD, what do you think about this? Now that there is a platform for direct exchange of fiat currency, do you expect more people to pay attention to NXT?

Dave Pearce (DP):

The NXT community is still a little unfamiliar with the LZF exchange platform, but this is good news for NXT. There are already a number of businesses that exchange NXT for fiat currencies: BTC38 (NXT <> yuan) and CCEDK (NXT <> euro +), as well as several Bitcoin brokers such as Coinimal and Litebit. I hope that NXT can develop better with the help of these exchanges. LZF seems to be a good and professional exchange platform. But I don't expect any earth-shattering news from NXT.

BC: NXT has sponsored a number of events, the most recent being Reinvent.Money. What does this type of publicity mean to you as a developer? Do you have a specific message at these events or is it “just” publicity?

DP:

The audiences attending these events are all different, so the most important information we want to convey is the most general questions: What is cryptocurrency? What is NXT? How do I use NXT?

Participation sometimes has a direct impact on the development of NXT: for example, the possibility of implementing new features or projects. The communication and new ideas in the conference sometimes have a very significant impact. To summarize: participating in the conference is mainly to spread NXT and let more people know about NXT, but there will be more incredible things in the future, not just promotion...

BC: I know that every member of the NXT team works very hard, so I'll just ask a quick question: What big moves will NXT have in store for 2016?

DP:

Well… we are busy building the Tennessee project, one of the focuses will be marketing/PR and making the user experience of NXT as simple as possible. There is a big move recently, we will create a user service for all NXT users, which will be launched before the end of this year.

On the development side, version 1.7 will bring a lot of interesting features, including a coin shuffle system. We just finished testing the shuffle system with the help of Tim Ruffing, the creator of the BTC coin shuffle system, and he was happy to work with NXT to implement this feature.

In the future, we will explain NXT through many magazines and books to promote NXT into the mainstream world, not just in the world of cryptography.
