U.S. Navy investigators uncover Bitcoin drug ring at Naval Academy

U.S. Navy investigators have uncovered a drug trafficking ring at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, involving 10 to 22 suspects. The investigation reportedly began about three months ago when a student at the school tipped off the authorities.

She was said to have tried to escape after receiving the information, but was later caught and taken for questioning.

Naval Academy spokesman David McKinney said in a statement to Fox News:

"The Naval Academy and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) recently conducted an investigation in Annapolis following reports of recreational drug use within the academy. The results of the investigation are pending, and we will continue to work with NCIS on this matter. The Navy has a zero tolerance policy for substance abuse and takes all allegations of misconduct seriously."
