Bank of England seeks blockchain interns

The Bank of England (BOE) has launched a search for blockchain interns, promising to provide winning students with a six-week paid internship and the opportunity to join the bank’s blockchain team.

According to the Bank of England’s website, applicants are encouraged to invent blockchain-related products that can have a positive impact on British society. The deadline is December 7.

The following statement is from the website:

“Many people say that blockchain technology may bring some risks, but there are also many people who believe that blockchain technology can create many new concepts and new applications that improve living standards. There are various voices around blockchain, so we want to hear your opinions.”

Students who apply can work independently on product development or form teams of up to six people. The website statement added that team members can be composed of students from freshman to senior year. Other eligibility requirements can be found on the Bank of England's website.

The winning team will also have the opportunity to be invited to visit the Bank of England to meet key people from the bank’s data and technology teams working on blockchain projects.

The news follows a report published by the Bank of England earlier this year, which noted that the combination of digital currencies and mobile technology could reshape the balance of payments.

In addition to the Bank of England, some organizations are also recruiting interns in blockchain. In July this year, the Tunisian government recruited blockchain interns. The interns will study the advantages and disadvantages of using Bitcoin and analyze the impact of Bitcoin on the banking system. Just this week, Europol also announced the recruitment of interns for Bitcoin transaction tracking.
