SEC charges $20 million Ponzi scheme

The price of Bitcoin soared sharply in the Asian session on Thursday (December 3), and became strong again after a period of consolidation.

     The quotes released by KRAKEN showed that Bitcoin/ Euro (XBT/EUR) rose from 330 to 340 yesterday, and further soared to 350 in the Asian session of this trading day.

     The quotes released by Huobi.com show that Bitcoin/ CNY rose from around 2230 to 2326.50 yesterday, and further soared to nearly 2420 in the Asian session.

     On the industry front, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recently sued two Bitcoin "minting" companies and their founders in the U.S. District Court for the State of Connecticut.

     The SEC accused GAW Miners LLC, ZenMiner LLC, and the two companies' founder Homero Garza of using virtual currency as bait to defraud investors of their money and set up a $20 million Ponzi scheme.

     Homero Garza's attorney, Marjorie Peerce, said she was disappointed and would not make any further comment before the trial.
