British singer and songwriter Imogen Heap spoke at a recent event about the impact blockchain technology can have on musicians and artists. At Techcrunch in London yesterday, the Grammy Award-winning Heap spoke to the audience about his technical take on blockchain technology: the artist revolution is coming, and blockchain regulations will change the way people in the industry deal with data. She added: “We are in an amazing period in the history of art. There is a revolution that is going to happen and we will see it next year. Artists deserve the ability to control their music and showcase their musical talents, and the way to achieve this is blockchain.” Heap made headlines earlier this year when she released her new song “Tiny Human” on the Ethereum blockchain as part of a special event hosted by the UK newspaper The Guardian. During the panel discussion at yesterday's event, Heap also talked about the current monetization of the music industry. Heap said, "The biggest problem facing artists now is payment. We need a platform for fair competition and free trade, and I am willing to be one of the leaders of this platform... It (blockchain) can bring us new platform forms and better services to enrich our lives."
