The U.S. Government Should Destroy Bitcoin and Similar Technologies

Abstract: Although the US's online and offline surveillance of the public is not surprising to many people, few people know that some systems dedicated to decentralized services and maintaining privacy will also become targets of the US government. In the latest report sponsored by the US government, the famous RAND Corporation has outlined a picture of the future of Bitcoin and similar technologies, but this picture is not beautiful.

The report mentioned that Bitcoin and blockchain technology can indeed provide decentralized, anonymous and flexible services to global users, but this cannot be considered a good thing.

Although this sounds good to many people, the report also points out that there are uncertainties about the national security interests of the United States. Another big problem with this type of technology is the spread of information related to online encryption. It is not a good thing to spread knowledge about security and encryption methods among the general public.

The report then goes on to mention that countries like the United States in particular should oppose Bitcoin and other blockchain-based services (the original term is attack Bitcoin) and use complex technical means to undermine its core advantages in public perception: security, stability and privacy.

So why exactly are systems like Bitcoin "uncertain" to the interests of the United States and other countries? The report emphasizes that such technologies can be used by certain organizations, such as terrorist organizations, to establish persistent communications and currencies that are difficult to disrupt, which is naturally not a good thing.

Of course, the report also mentioned that if these technologies are widely spread and developed, then the country will not be able to control and intervene in such systems. This kind of debate on encryption and privacy will continue around the world, especially in this era that attaches so much importance to human rights. No one knows what Bitcoin will develop into.
