Bitcoin Classic sparks controversy

The launch of the Bitcoin Classic expansion plan has caused great controversy in the Bitcoin community. Theymos, a staunch opponent of hard forks, deleted all posts related to Bitcoin Classic on the /rBitcoin forum, including a post from Shapeshift CEO Erik Voorhees: "Censorship: Hot front-page post about Bitcoin Classic"

The content is as follows:

“Every time I see this stuff get censored and removed, I feel like ‘solutions other than core’ might be the right answer. If you don’t allow these discussions to happen, then you’ve already lost the debate.”

Afterwards, another moderator, StarMaged, reversed the deletion operation, and his reason was:

“This was a discussion post about a new topic, not a troll post, and the poster is a very prominent member of the community, so I have to undo the deletion, sorry (theymos).”

In response to this move, theymos said:

“From what I have seen so far, Bitcoin Classic is just an altcoin, and these deleted posts are about altcoins, which have nothing to do with Bitcoin.
If you disagree with me, that's fine. But it doesn't change the established fact that this software is off-topic for /r/Bitcoin, move it somewhere else. I am deleting these posts because of my past actions and policies. Because Bitcoin Classic is an altcoin, it is obvious that it should be deleted, and posts on this topic are off-topic and will be deleted. This is consistent with the policy I expressed seven months ago. However, some people feel that the situation of this post is different, so I will not delete this post again, and we can discuss it in a relevant way.

At the same time, theymos also gave his reasons for judging Bitcoin Classic to be an altcoin: any hard fork without consensus will create an altcoin, no matter what it is.

Soon, a new post appeared on another subreddit /r/btc: "Bitcoin classic topic banned by /r/Bitcoin". User "PotatoBadger" also revealed that StarMaged is no longer a moderator of /r/Bitcoin.

As of now, the supporters listed on the Bitcoin Classic official website include Bitmain/Antpool, BW.COM, HAOBTC.com, Genesis Mining, Coinbase (Brian Armstrong), OKCoin, Foldapp, Bitcoin.com, etc.

Of course, there are also users who think that this is purely a conspiracy!

What do you think of Bitcoin Classic?
