Power companies raise electricity prices for Bitcoin miners

Because Bitcoin miners use a lot of electricity to mine Bitcoin, a power company in Washington State has raised the electricity price for large power users. The electricity price in Chelan County, Washington State is very cheap because the nearby dam on the Columbia River provides sufficient electricity. Chelan County Utility Company has now announced that it will increase the electricity price for these large power users from 3 cents per kilowatt-hour to 5 cents per kilowatt-hour.

Bitcoin miners believe that raising electricity prices against them is discriminatory.
