Precious Metals Trader JM Bullion Begins Supporting Bitcoin Payments

Dallas-based precious metals dealer JM Bullion now accepts Bitcoin.

The announcement said JM Bullion joins a number of precious metals dealers in the U.S. that have accepted Bitcoin payments, including Agora Commodities and Amagi Metals.

JM Bullion has started accepting payments in Bitcoin through a partnership with startup BitPay. Customers who purchase using Bitcoin or by check or bank transfer will receive a 4% discount.

Thomas Fougerousse, director of e-commerce, said the decision allowed the company to offer a better payment experience and acquire more customers.

“Bitcoin provides us with new ways to meet the needs of our loyal customers.”

At this time, Bitcoin's identity as a digital currency is being overshadowed by blockchain technology.

CoinDesk’s 2016 State of Bitcoin report shows that major merchant payment services BitPay and Coinbase no longer mention the number of merchants they have registered to serve.

However, the number of merchants accepting digital currencies is increasing at a rate of 42% every year.
