21 companies launch Bitcoin micropayment market, creativity can also be converted into Bitcoin

Bitcoin startup 21 Inc has launched a 21 micropayments marketplace that allows buyers and sellers to trade digital goods using Bitcoin. Initially, the 21 micropayments marketplace will primarily allow developers to trade API calls using digital currencies, which is known to be a pain point for developers in existing markets, inhibiting the creation of global marketplaces.

It’s important to note that this payments marketplace is currently only available to users of the 21 Bitcoin Computer, the company’s bitcoin mining and microtransaction device, but the company also noted that this market will be expanded with the launch of the 21 Bitcoin Library, an upcoming command-line interface and software package.

In a blog post on Medium, 21 envisioned how its marketplace could allow users to rent out their computers and trade bitcoin for a database of zip codes, though there are only a few examples on the platform right now.

In addition, 21 has released six apps on the server, including a URL tagging tool, a social sentiment analysis tool, and a Twitter influence ranking tool. 21 also released an overview of the steps on how to publish an app to this market, providing developers with a four-step process document.

In a statement, 21 described the product as an attempt to simplify API applications, which currently require users to provide personal information and credit card details, among other steps. The company also claimed that with this platform, such economic activities can take place without the need for users to hold bank accounts or use government-backed currencies during transactions.

The startup wrote:

“With a micropayment marketplace, we can essentially eliminate the fixed cost of signing up for any API. You can just use your Bitcoin wallet to make a one-time purchase, or set up a micropayment channel to do many transactions.”

Overall, the micropayment platform announced by 21 provides a possibility for developers to unlock new applications of Bitcoin technology.

“Even with these limitations, we believe the 21 micropayments marketplace is an important step toward making digital currencies useful to developers,” the company wrote.

It is worth noting that 21 Bitcoin PC users are already using their hardware to create similar applications.
