USAA Expands Bitcoin Integration to All Members

Following a pilot program in November, USAA is expanding its Bitcoin integration, allowing all account holders to connect and view their Coinbase balances via the USAA.com website.

In a post today, USAA called the trial a success and said support for the mobile app could be available in March. USAA.com and the USAA mobile app are part of the initial trial.

In the statement, Jon Cholak, chief investment fellow at USAA’s corporate development partnerships, said he supports wider deployment, positioning his firm as an early advocate of the technology.

Cholak said:

"Traditionally, USAA has been supportive of emerging technology trends. What we are developing is a cutting-edge application for the financial services industry."

USAA was one of the participants in a $75 million Series C round raised by bitcoin service company Coinbase in 2015, along with a joint venture between the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Spanish bank BBVA.

The Fortune 500 company has previously stated that its members are active Bitcoin users and cited this as an important reason to invest in Coinbase.
