Ghana opens Africa's first Bitcoin mine

Bitcoin mining has arrived on the African continent, with the region’s first dedicated Bitcoin mine now being built in Ghana.

Africa has always been a favorite for Bitcoin and Internet + enterprises. The continent has made a lot of positive public relations efforts to attract the Bitcoin industry. Since Bitcoin has always regarded itself as a challenger to banks, it is very attractive to underdeveloped and populous Africa. The Bitcoin community in Kenya also has high expectations for the development of Bitcoin in the region.

At present, many small and medium-sized digital currency companies have entered Africa. Today, Ghana Dot Com, a leading IT solution company in Ghana, has also established a Bitcoin mine in the country. Ghana Dot Com first introduced the Internet to Ghana in 1993. Another company is responsible for promoting the Bitcoin mine in the country. According to local media reports, the mine mined its first Bitcoin on the 8th of last month.

The initiator of the current mining project is a well-respected computer scientist, Professor Nii Narku Quaynor , who is also the president of Ghana Dot Com .

Professor Nii Narku Quaynor said that compared with digital currency itself , they are more interested in the encryption technology and blockchain technology behind digital currency. Currently, blockchain technology has been adopted by more and more industries, and the banking and financial sectors have also shown great interest in digital currency technology.

In many low-income countries in Africa and Asia, the adoption of blockchain technology in the banking industry will help reduce operating costs and increase cost-effectiveness for users. The establishment of the Ghana mine is just the beginning, and more Bitcoin companies will emerge in Africa in the future.
