Additionally, Buterin discussed statistics about the Ethereum network, including the number of decentralized applications running on the platform, the price of ether, and the growing number of Ethereum meetups around the world.

Still, Buterin sought to downplay expectations for the platform, saying ethereum’s development team faces daunting challenges.

For example, Buterin said that the development team needs to ensure the optional privacy of the Ethereum network and be able to prove its scalability, which are the current focus. Elsewhere, the slides also mentioned the third phase of the Ethereum platform, which will see its transaction verification mechanism switch from POW to POS (Casper), as well as proposed improvements to the Ethereum Virtual Machine.
