Blockchain talent service startup wins $10,000 prize at 2016 Consensus Conference

Rage Review : Colony is a bridge between recruiters and freelancers around the world. It lived up to the expectations of the top ten highlights of the consensus conference, winning the first prize in the competition of the proof-of-work panel meeting and taking home a $10,000 grand prize. What’s more important is that the speakers are all world-renowned investors, and Colony’s technical ideas have been unanimously recognized by these investment tycoons. One of the judges, Dan Morehead of Pantera Capital, also joked that he didn’t see a real technical demonstration related to Bitcoin, except for the highly anticipated Colony.

Colony, a decentralized talent services company that bridges recruiters and global freelancers, won first place in the Proof-of-Work startup competition at the 2016 Consensus conference and received a $10,000 grand prize.

Co-founder Collin Vine spoke to a number of notable investors, including Pascal Bouvier of Santander InnoVentures, Rumi Morales of CME Ventures, Dan Morehead of Pantera Capital and Bitstamp, James Robinson of RRE Ventures, and Matthew Roszak of Bloq and Tally Capital.

Collin Vine

Vine explained in his presentation that companies can build "colonies" similar to project management apps and set "bounties" to reward freelancers for good work.

"The person who receives the most 'bounties' will win the most money".

Before the presentation, investors introduced their expectations for Bitcoin companies, and Morehead joked that the only startups participating in the competition were not related to Bitcoin. So, unsurprisingly, he recommended not to adopt those strategies.

Other startups presenting ideas at the Proof of Work panel included:

1. The Sun Exchange - Abraham Cambridge: Plans to build an investment platform that invests in small solar projects and pays monthly dividends.

2. Coinprism — Flavien Charlon: A private chain provider that allows private companies to issue their own blockchain.

3. Lawnmower — Pieter Gorsira: A digital currency investment platform where investors can track multiple currencies.

4. Uniquid — Stefano Pepe: IoT software library.
