A developer claims that he is the "man behind" Ethereum: Buterin is a fake, I have complained to the FBI

Jared Mimms, a developer who insists that Ethereum is his property, said he has filed a formal complaint with the FBI.

As we all know, Vitalik Buterin is the founder and core developer of the Ethereum project, but Jared Mimms insists that Buterin plagiarized his ideas.

Mimms's accusation

In an email to CoinTelegraph on July 9, Mimms said: Ethereum’s intellectual property was stolen from me by Vitalik. I uploaded a backup to Omega Genomics. My company is Peercover, Vitalik Buterin knows it, and he saw the prototype of the project I posted in a Skype discussion group. Jack Peterson is my partner. He destroyed my family and my development team, and he also claimed that I had mental problems. Later, Jack and Vitalik violated the regulations of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and illegally raised funds on gambling websites.

He said the file he uploaded to Omega Genomics was a manuscript written in Python, and he also sent a prototype to the University of California and multiple Skype discussion groups in the bitcoin community (including the Ripple and Honorary Bitcoin forums), and he also applied for a provisional patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

He said: I have been in the Bitcoin community for a long time. I co-invested in the Bitcoin exchange Bitinstant with Omega Hedge, but then Charlie Shrem came out and said he was the only investor. Since then, the Bitcoin community has determined that I am dishonest.

Why now?

So why did Mimms wait until now to expose this?

He said: This is the first time I have exposed the whole incident to the media. I have officially filed a complaint with the FBI. Vitalik is Canadian, and it is difficult for the US government to prosecute him. Now the DAO incident is the focus of major media attention. I can only expose the whole thing to the media with the help of the DAO incident. It is difficult for me to regain the ownership of Ethereum through economic or political means because my former employee, Augur core developer Jack Peterson, has discredited me. In addition, my company is suffering from an economic crisis.

To back up his claims, Mimms published a conversation he had with Paul Sztorc (Paul had published an article called The Case Against Augur) which he said was sufficient proof of Jack and Vitalik’s fraud.

Tim Swanson, head of research at R3, also mentioned Mimms in his book Great Chain of Numbers (2014). In January, I spoke with Jared Mimms, the founder of Peercover, a company dedicated to providing decentralized insurance services. After months of hard work, Peercover created its first smart contract using cryptoledger technology and connected it to the Ripple system. Mimms said that Peercover's goal is to build a sandbox that can create lucrative assets (companies) by connecting various smart contracts without participants having to write code. The service provided by Peercover is simple and valuable. They have developed a series of 'company models', all of which are composed of 'algorithmic frameworks', including an 'investment system' that allows founders to attract more investors for their companies by connecting to third-party service agencies. In addition, the development team is about to release a built-in trading system through which company founders can conduct real-time asset transactions and stock dividends with investors.

Mimms said that Swanson's book can prove that Peercover is the world's first real contract client and is very competitive. The smart contract system launched by Peercover is enough to set off decentralized innovation and automate enterprise functions with cryptocurrency technology.

He said that his original goal in founding Peercover was to provide a transaction channel (Ripple) for customers and businesses, and Peercover is not involved in back-end maintenance and management.

Swanson's book also quoted a passage from Mimms: Inspired by the Obamacare Act, our first smart contract business focuses on P2P insurance companies. In other words, since there are very few insurance companies involved in medical insurance, our platform can help them solve the problem. We can call them decentralized autonomous enterprises (DACs). In addition, we currently have a plan to embed social functions into Peercover to enable communication within the system (including developers, customers, and investors). However, this communication function must be embedded with an anti-fraud mechanism, so we will also verify the identity of the user. This sounds simple, but based on the experience of so many competing currency projects, we know that as long as it involves money, many people will do whatever it takes.

As of the time of publication, the Ethereum team has not responded to Mimms’ comments.
