The "We are all Satoshi Nakamoto" project will be launched to cultivate Chinese blockchain development talents

“DACA Association is gathering community consensus and various resources to launch the ‘We are all Satoshi’ project, with the intention of using the ‘We are all Satoshi’ core technology development as one of the course experimental groups in the ‘Computational Thinking’ course at Tsinghua University. We have also reached an agreement with the Computational Network Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to conduct a comprehensive BUG test on the Bitcoin core program.”

At last week’s 8btc AMA event, Han Feng, Secretary General of the DACA Blockchain Association and mentor of Tsinghua University iCenter, revealed the “We Are All Satoshi Nakamoto” project plan initiated by the DACA Association.

DACA was founded in late 2014, when the industry was in a downturn. In April 2015, the DACA Blockchain University Tour was officially launched, which was the earliest public welfare promotion of blockchain technology in China. So far, more than 40 events have been held, with more than 5,000 participants.

This year, the DACA Association elected its president Zhang Shousong, vice president Shentu Qingchun, and seven individual directors through blockchain elections. Han Feng revealed, "This year, the key project of the DACA Association is 'We are all Satoshi Nakamoto'. We are currently reaching a preliminary cooperation intention with Tsinghua University and the Network Computing Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, focusing on raising the talent training work for blockchain development in my country to a new level."

Since 2010, the Chinese community has been deeply involved in various practices of the Bitcoin blockchain. China has the largest number of transactions and the largest mining farms in the world, but it is undeniable that China has almost no contribution to the underlying core technology source code. In terms of capacity expansion and the direction of Bitcoin development, China has relatively little say.

The community has long been aware of this. Based on this, the DACA Association is gathering community consensus and various resources to launch the "We are all Satoshi Nakamoto" project to cultivate Chinese blockchain development talents. Han Feng introduced: "We hope to guide the development of Bitcoin core programs to provable correct, that is, the bug-free programming system software engineering (XINXI proposal) that the Chinese Academy of Sciences has been studying for a long time. In this process, we will cultivate and train Chinese blockchain development talents. At present, Chinese blockchain industry giants such as Bitmain and OKCOIN have expressed their support for the plan and are ready to start crowdfunding for the Chinese community as soon as possible."

It is understood that after the project crowdfunding is launched, anyone can participate in the "We are all Satoshi Nakamoto" project by participating in the crowdfunding and can leave a message on the blockchain. The entire network will always remember the contribution of every crowdfunder.

In addition, the project will open a registration channel for developers.

“We will regularly hold advanced training and academic seminars at institutions such as Tsinghua University. Based on the test report of the Bitcoin core program by the Network Computing Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, we will propose open source code modules for volunteer developers to adopt. If the program developed by the volunteer developer is finally accepted by the Bitcoin core development team, we will publicly commend and reward Bitcoin at the DACA summit one year later. Volunteer developers can also participate in our long-term strategic project Provable Correct.”

In addition to the first disclosure of the "We Are All Satoshi" project plan, there was also a discussion of academic viewpoints during this event. A user asked, what is the connection between entropy and blockchain? If miners are Maxwell demons, then, wouldn't blockchains like POS, which do not mine at all, have no entropy?

Han Feng replied: "The timestamp of the Bitcoin blockchain prevents double payment, which is actually a behavior of reducing entropy. Therefore, the blockchain is a distributed Maxwell's demon system. POW and POS should both be considered Maxwell's demon because they both have distributed nodes and a timestamp accounting mechanism. As for which system is more efficient in reducing entropy, I am currently studying it."

This is also part of Han Feng's explanation of the relationship between entropy and blockchain in the book "Blockchain: From Digital Currency to Credit Society". "Blockchain: From Digital Currency to Credit Society" is a blockchain monograph recently published by CITIC Press. It was co-authored by nine blockchain industry elites and scholars, including Yang Tao, Chang Qia, Han Feng, Pan Zhibiao, Da Hongfei, Shi Yuhang, Haibin, Shentu Qingchun, and Tao Rongqi. The content covers the development history, technical principles, legal boundaries, and potential commercial applications of blockchain. Talking about the biggest feature of this book, Han Feng said, "This is a blockchain monograph written by industry elites. The quality is more guaranteed."

During the event, Han Feng also shared his views on the development trend of blockchain: "Blockchain is still in its infancy, roughly equivalent to the Internet in the late 1990s. Large amounts of funds will flow in, but the success rate of the project will not be high. It may usher in a relative climax in a year, but then it will face a low tide of two to three years. Those who persevere and move towards their goals will win. The directions I am more optimistic about include blockchain asset confirmation and ICO."
