An insider of the Ethereum Foundation revealed that the DAO attack was the work of a "house thief", and the whole thing was a huge conspiracy?

An insider from the Ethereum Foundation contacted me via Skype (not video mode), and he said that before the interview, there were several requirements, and his identity information, approximate age, nationality, country code (shown in the phone number), and any other information that could identify him could not be made public. We talked for about 5 minutes, and he said that he only held a small amount of ether, but no ETC.

He (who agreed to be identified) began by talking about the DAO hack and how the community was trying to “catch” the thief with $55 million in his pocket. He spoke quickly and quietly.

Some people who know the situation believe that the DAO attack was done by a "house thief". As we all know, there are very few people in the world who can understand the Ethereum code so well that they can even destroy it.

He carefully explained why the DAO attack was the "masterpiece" of Ethereum insiders.

At first, everyone thought the attacker was a former member of the Ethereum project, which would explain why he was so familiar with Vitalik's code. But after thinking about it carefully, it seems unlikely.

He told us about the “tension” that was prevalent within the Ethereum Foundation when the DAO incident first happened.

Everyone was suspicious of each other. But we shouldn't have done that. Everyone was looking for the attacker, and the investigation was comprehensive.

Vitalik has been a bit overly optimistic recently. I think he is escaping from reality and he is under a lot of pressure. His reputation and even the reputation of the entire Ethereum project have been implicated. He is too young. He acquiesced to the existence of Ethereum Classic and never expressed opposition to the project, but his close friends are closely following ETC. In addition, many groups have been removed from Ethereum's communication channels recently, including Slack, Skype and other unrelated groups. Now, the entire Ethereum is suspicious. It's a mess. Everyone still thinks that the loophole still exists. Some people no longer trust Vitalik. I think Ethereum is no longer in its glory.

Buterin issued a statement today, indirectly expressing his tacit attitude towards ETC, but did not directly mention the name of ETC.

We recognize that Ethereum’s code can be used to implement other blockchains with the same consensus rules, including test chains, consortium chains, private chains, and split chains, and we have never opposed such instances.

The whistleblower quoted the following tweet, saying that Ethereum has a sense of "there is something fishy here".

We just voted out the DAO attacker.

I don't think the Ethereum project can recover. It's a mess inside and people are panicking. More and more people are starting to worry about the legal issues that this whole thing will cause. It seems that they have learned their lesson.
