Major websites that accept Bitcoin as a payment method

Long gone are the days when Bitcoin was considered an obscure digital currency that could only be used by computer engineers or criminals operating through dark web channels. Today, it seems that the only concerns surrounding this cryptocurrency are the fear of hacker attacks or thefts that often occur on exchanges, and Bitcoin has finally gained the trust of web users and large enterprises that are willing to jump on the Bitcoin bandwagon to improve the usability of their services.

Unlike five years ago, Bitcoin is now a viable payment method on a wide range of websites, from famous NBA team merchandise stores such as the Sacramento Kings to dating sites such as OKCupid. How much trust does Bitcoin have? The answer is a lot, and the following websites all accept Bitcoin.

WordPress

WordPress is a pioneer in every sense of the word. It was one of the first online sites to start using Bitcoin, accepting it in 2012. However, this exciting move by WordPress is only natural, as the main goal of the platform has always been to provide a service for unrestricted free expression. WordPress was designed from the moment it was born to be a truly democratic service where people can skip the restrictions imposed by PayPal, Payoneer and other payment services and enter a limitless world of plugins, themes and add-ons. Or as they themselves say, their goal is to "move people, not stop them."

NameCheap

If you haven’t heard of Namecheap, then you’ve never been interested in owning your own website or blog. NameCheap, along with GoDaddy and Google Domains, is one of the most popular online domain name registration services. NameCheap began accepting Bitcoin payments in March 2013, and like WordPress, NameCheap was born out of a desire to provide users with unlimited payment options while continuing to be a pioneer in online freedom and innovation. Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency that can be used for nearly all of NameCheap’s services, from domain name registration to purchasing SSL certificates and domain parking services.

Microsoft

Can you find a better company to promote Bitcoin than Microsoft? You probably can, but that’s not the point. Despite some reluctance at first, Microsoft has been accepting Bitcoin since December 2014, when they wanted to attract the US user base by introducing this change. All Windows 10 users in the United States can use Bitcoin to pay for apps, games, and other things you can find in the Windows, Windows Phone, and Xbox stores. Microsoft’s entry into Bitcoin actually started earlier than this, when it introduced Bitcoin in the Bing currency converter. Currently, the only payment processor that can be used for Bitcoin transactions is BitPay.

Dell

Dell, one of the world's largest computer manufacturers, also partnered with Bitcoin last year. Dell now accepts Bitcoin as an available payment method in its online store. Dell decided to start accepting Bitcoin in July 2014, after establishing a partnership with Coinbase, and two weeks later, Dell introduced Bitcoin. Initially, Dell's support for Bitcoin was only for US citizens, but six months later, Dell removed the country restrictions, and now British and Canadian citizens can also use Bitcoin to pay in Dell's online store. Currently, Dell has become the largest merchant accepting Bitcoin.
