Polish government and community debate Bitcoin regulations

The Polish Bitcoin community and Polish political economist Miroslaw Suchon co-organized the lecture, which brought together experts from the Bitcoin and blockchain industries, following the recent debate in the Polish parliament over the government’s Bitcoin regulations.

Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin play an important role in the monetary system. Their decentralized nature relies on the support of the world community, not central banks and governments. Due to the lack of comprehensive understanding of cryptocurrencies, governments are divided on Bitcoin regulations. On the one hand, accepting cryptocurrencies means giving up the right to fully control monetary policy, while at the same time strict regulation will hinder the development of blockchain technology.

The real-time debate facilitated the exchange of views between industry experts and politicians on the different aspects of cryptocurrency technology and its advantages and disadvantages. Academics who spoke at the event included Dr. Konrad Zacharzewski, Dr. Krzysztof Piech, Professor Marian Sredrny, legal experts Jacek Czarnecki, Krzysztof Korus and industry representatives such as BitBay and IBM, as well as members of the Polish Bitcoin community.

According to reports, the Polish government is very interested in the technology and more similar events are expected. As expected, one of the focuses of this event revolved around the creation and use of cryptocurrencies. Everyone agreed that regulations are necessary to protect the interests of investors, but they should not hinder community freedom and technological progress.
