Blockchain education issues are prominent! Overstock blockchain stocks are about to be issued, but investors don’t understand how to use them

As Overstock’s blockchain-based stock offering approaches, the U.S. electronics retail giant is reaching out to brokers because of barriers to investor understanding of the technology.

The company said yesterday that it is working with stakeholders to promote education on how investors can successfully order such blockchain shares.

Overstock first announced its intention to issue blockchain-based shares earlier this year. Earlier this year, Overstock officially announced that it would officially launch in December, which is this month.

According to Overstock, the shares are tied to digital assets on a distributed ledger, but potential buyers of the shares do not understand the model. More specifically, there have been reported instances where brokers were unsure how to complete the purchase process.

Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne explained:

“We are designing a completely new financial model, so a steep learning curve for stockbrokers is to be expected. We are working with the relevant players to resolve this issue. We believe that with a little patience, everyone can master the use of this stock.”

Overstock expects to offer up to 2 million shares, which could raise $30 million.

As one of the top ten online retailers in the United States, Overstock launched the tФ blockchain platform in August 2015, intending to take the lead in transforming the trade and settlement business model. The platform can issue blockchain-based digital assets such as bonds and stocks, subverting DTTC's existing T+3 settlement model.

As an emerging technology, blockchain must start with education if it is to be promoted and widely adopted. Education related to blockchain and Bitcoin is relatively scarce at present, but with the development of blockchain technology, a large number of blockchain and Bitcoin books and educational projects have begun to appear. The education problem should be properly solved.
