Bitcoin mining machine manufacturer FOXMINERS suspected of fraudulent media reminds netizens to be careful to identify Bitcoin scams

Golden Finance News - According to foreign media reports, a Bitcoin mining machine manufacturer and seller was exposed by the media last week, saying that it was carrying out a shady activity. The company is Foxminers, headquartered in California, and they were listed with evidence by an electronic publication called "Merkle" to expose the improper activities.

Little-Known Bitcoin Miner Maker Creates Revolutionary Mining Equipment

Over the past few weeks, a bitcoin mining company called Foxminers LLC has been sending press releases to news outlets claiming to be offering new online bitcoin mining hardware.

Foxminers claims to provide Bitcoin miners with proprietary chips they created that can mine Bitcoin's algorithm as well as Litecoin's scrypt. However, with some in-depth understanding, the media found that this Bitcoin mining machine manufacturing company has many problems. Recently, "Merkle" roughly exposed two of these problems on the website.

On April 22, JP Buntinx, a reporter from Merkle, wrote an article titled “Cryptocurrency Mining Scam Warning – Foxminers”.

In Buntinx’s research, no one had heard of this new Bitcoin mining company. In addition, Buntinx explained how the company’s proprietary mining chip, the FM9800-XD1112, offers technology and performance.

Despite this, no one has heard of the chip. However, the bitcoin mining company did provide a spec sheet for the product and a Vimeo video of a bitcoin miner “operating” the machine.

Bitcointalk.org forum issues reminder

According to a scam warning on the Bitcointalk.org forum, a user has already discovered problems with Foxminers. For example, the spec sheet provided for the FM9800-XD1112 is almost identical to another bitcoin mining chip called SFARAD. The user expressed his suspicions on the forum.

Netizens also compared the two specifications of Bitcoin mining machines on the website and revealed many similarities. A Bitcointalk member wrote:

"Frankly, this is a scam. Their spec sheet should be an exact copy of the SFARAD, the only difference is the better cover art and inconsistent chip names. Oh, and the copyright notice."

Foxminers threaten to take Merkle to court

Representatives of Foxminers, a Bitcoin mining machine manufacturer, contacted the publication due to the article published by Merkle. They sent an email to the editor-in-chief of Merkle, asking him to remove the article written by JP Buntinx.

The email, titled “Defamatory Content Removal Request,” was purportedly sent by the law firm representing Foxminers, Sack Rosendin LLP.

However, after some investigation, Merkle found that the email was impersonating the Sack Rosendin law firm. Sack Rosendin's lawyers revealed to Merkle that they had never sent any emails and had never heard of the Bitcoin mining machine company Foxminers.

In addition, netizens on Bitcointalk.org also verified the phone number on the Foxminers mining machine and found that it was not Foxminers' phone number, but the phone number of another Bitcoin mining machine manufacturer called UFOminers.

(UFOminers was also reported to be a Bitcoin mining machine sales scam. Image source: Golden Finance)

However, UFOminers was also exposed as a scam on Bitcointalk.org. In addition, UFOminers was also found to be linked to another Bitcoin mining machine manufacturer, Minerslab.

All three websites, Foxminers, UFOminers, and Minerslab, have very similar content, all offering Bitcoin mining equipment. And each website claims to take bank transfers. But near the end of the checkout process, all three websites do not allow this method.

Bitcoin.com, a Bitcoin information media website, called Foxminer's phone number twice, but no one answered. Some of the numbers even showed as invalid.

The editor-in-chief of Merkle said that JP Buntinx was the first to discover that there was something wrong with the company because they placed a press release about the Bitcoin miner on Cointelegraph and other Bitcoin websites. Buntinx then did some careful investigative work and discovered that it was a scam.

The editor-in-chief of Merkle explained:

“UFOminers and Foxminers are 100% operated by the same people.”

Because a few months ago, a person claiming to be from Nigeria asked him to remove a scam accusation article from the Merkle website. The person offered him money, but was still rejected by Merkle. The editor-in-chief of Merkle explained:

“After I refused, he tried to bribe me. But the guy’s English handwriting was very similar to that of the Foxminers representative. So I have reason to believe these are the same person.”

Stay informed of the industry and beware of fraudulent activity

Two weeks ago, Bitcoin.com also received a press release about the bitcoin mining company Foxminers. The company was asked to provide more information about its bitcoin mining equipment. Foxminers responded to Bitcoin.com via video and PDF format. However, these evidences were not enough to prove their legitimacy, so Bitcoin.com rejected the company's request.

Bitcoin.com wants to make readers aware of the possibility of fraudulent activity and to do their best to investigate before purchasing any product that does not seem to be real.
