Accepting Bitcoin payments is not enough, European large retailer Alza adds two new BTMs

Alza, the largest online retailer in the Czech Republic, has started accepting Bitcoin payments and has installed Bitcoin ATMs (BTMs) in two of its showrooms, one in Prague and one in Bratislava.

Alza starts accepting Bitcoin payments

Founded in 1994, Alza.cz Inc was formerly known as Alzasoft, which was famous for electronics and computer technology. Currently, Alza sells products including home electronics, toys, cosmetics, magazines and sporting goods. As of 2014, the company's business covers 26 countries in Europe.

Currently, Alza is the largest online retailer in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, with a turnover of 643 million euros in 2016. The company said it has dispatched more than 15 million orders for more than 50,000 products, all with a 24-month warranty.

In December 2016, Tomáš Havryluk, head of Alzashop.com, said that “Alzashop.com is the most successful online store, not only in the Czech Republic, but also in the whole of Europe.” He also said that 40% of Czech technology products are sold online, and he revealed that “more than 300,000 users visit the Alzashop.com website every day.”

The retail giant has integrated Bitcoin payments on its platform. This new payment option has appeared on its website and users can use it normally. Alza stores in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, the United Kingdom and other countries have opened Bitcoin payment services, completing the process through Bitcoinpay.

Jan Sadílek, Alza’s head of online marketing, said:

Prague is already one of several important Bitcoin centers in Europe. The introduction of Bitcoin payments will meet the public's demand for this payment method and develop the potential of this new technology.

Install BTM

In addition to accepting Bitcoin payments, Alza has also installed two BTMs. One is in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, and the other is in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Anyone can use these two machines to buy and sell Bitcoin, and only accepts crowns or euros.

Alza is the second major online retailer to accept Bitcoin this month. Last week, Russia’s largest online retailer Ulmart announced that it would begin accepting Bitcoin payments in September. It is reported that Alza plans to add more cryptocurrency support in the future, such as Litecoin (LTC) or Ethereum (ETH).
